The Crown Inn at Long Melford is THE best place to relax, enjoy wonderful drinks and eat the best Moules Marinere you have ever had. The freshest mussels in the best sauce. Absolutely wonderful place with friendly staff and a great ambience. Highly recommend.

My wife and I ate here tonight. Really good quality food in lovely surroundings. Sea Bass for Denise and Vegetable Lasagne for me. Quality of both meals was first class and the chef should be commended. Staff were attentive and really pleasant, so we both rate the whole experience 5 stars! No “but”… more

My wife and I ate here tonight. Really good quality food in lovely surroundings. Sea Bass for Denise and Vegetable Lasagne for me. Quality of both meals was first class and the chef should be commended. Staff were attentive and really pleasant, so we both rate the whole experience 5 stars! No “but”from me, just some honest feedback for the owners. We were presented with the dessert menu after our mains which looked fine, but we both went “ouch!” and passed. The table near us made exactly the same sound and also said no. The reason? £9.25 for a slice of cheesecake is just silly! Hence the “no thanks”. The Swan just a few yards along the road also serves tip top food and their dessert menu is pretty much £2 a portion cheaper. Surely it is better to pitch a dessert at £6.50-£7.00 and have customers order them (and after a dessert I personally always like to finish with a coffee), than people (like we did tonight and the other table), finish their drinks and then ask for the bill? Cash profit pays bills when people order the product rather than a super high margin on zero sales…. All that to one side definitely a great meal and my feedback is simply meant to be constructive and is hopefully taken on board.

“Great location, but room cleanliness a real disappointment.”

The location of the Crown Hotel is great and was perfect for us. The room was also spacious, however, the whole room had not been cleaned properly in a long while. The back of the free standing mirror on the dressing table was full of fluff, it had gone well past dusty. There was a spider splatt… more

The location of the Crown Hotel is great and was perfect for us. The room was also spacious, however, the whole room had not been cleaned properly in a long while. The back of the free standing mirror on the dressing table was full of fluff, it had gone well past dusty. There was a spider splattered into the roller blind in the bathroom, the windows were black around the panes, the skirting boards dirty, and the walls covered in scuffs and marks. We enjoyed the evening meal in the restaurant on our first night, although we were the only people in there. The inclusive breakfast was also very nice. But the room was a real disappointment.
