Located on North Street, just to the right of Lendal Bridge if you’re coming from York Station, is Radisson Hotel York. The Hotel is actually the second tallest building in York, after York Minster, which offers more than enough room for guests. On check in, visitors can partake in complimentary sweets or flavoured water on the ground floor in addition to having leaflets available for nearby attractions. Check-in opens at 3pm but guests can drop off bags and explore. The rooms are big and spacious, offering complimentary tea and coffee daily, in addition to free bottles of water. The rooms also have hairdryers and ironing facilities. Not all rooms face the river and some require travelling up a lift from the ground floor (using your key card) before walking down a corridor to take another lift up to your floor. The Hotel also has parking facilities nearby as well as conference rooms and a restaurant. We have to give a shout out to the restaurant, The Paddle Room. The food on offer is amazing with generous portions which is excellent value for money. We would recommend the BBQ mushroom pizza which tasted as if it contained Wensleydale cheese (Fountain’s Gold?) as it’s topping. It’s a great place to while away the hours watching the river and boats sailing past. In terms of location, from the hotel you can either travel to the right towards Lendal Bridge towards either York station and National Railway Museum, City Cruises and York Minster or to the right, you can go over the Ouse Bridge and up towards the Shambles. In addition, if you happen to book day trips, they will usually depart from Leeman Road which is to the right as you leave the hotel and a short 5 - 10 minute walk. For a great base to explore the city of York, you can’t go wrong with Radisson Hotel York!

Nice hotel, good room, good shower and air con. Breakfast is ok but could be better. Main gripe, don’t put a known faulty toaster out, being told yes we know when I say it’s faulty. Nice hotel, good room, good shower and air con. Breakfast is ok but could be better. Main gripe, don’t put a known faulty toaster out, being told yes we know when I say it’s faulty. It was literally wasting electricity and food. Yes there were other toasters and these were cheap rubbish as well, buy some decent Dualit. Food was ok but not great and selection was pretty rubbish. Coffee was ok. Staff are all nice friendly and helpful. We have stayed here multiple times and I remember now why we don’t pay the usual £18 pp for breakfast as it’s not worth it.

“Little things meant that this was a disappointing stay in a hotel which I will not return to.”

Room beverages were only replaced intermittently. Decaf tea was only offered at breakfast. Bathroom badly designed. Room not vacuumed during stay. Very loud music outside. Double glazing was fine during day, but not good enough for getting to sleep without ear plugs.
