I stayed at this hotel for two nights while on business travel. My primary requirements for an airport hotel are: 1.) the hotel is actually within a 10 minute drive of the airport; 2.) the room is sound proofed sufficiently that airplane noise is not an issue; and 3.) the fitness center is well equipped and open 24/7 to allow for access anytime to accommodate early flights. The Hilton Garden Inn met all of these requirements. (Note: I did not need the shuttle on this trip.) There is plenty of parking at $10/night. I was allowed to check in slightly early and was told that two complimentary bottles of water would be in my room. I bring this up only because, when I got to my room, there were no water bottles (kind of important in Phoenix). After unpacking and checking emails, I went back to the front desk. A different clerk was on duty. When I asked if I could get two bottles of water, the clerk dismissively assured me that they were in my room. I assured her that they were most definitely not as I had looked everywhere. Why on earth would you doubt a guest about something as insignificant as two bottles of water? This was my only negative experience with the hotel. My room was a typical HGI room, with a coffee maker, small fridge, safe, comfy bed, desk with adjustable chair, and small seating area. The bathroom had a walk in shower and was on the small side, but fine for one person. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked well. The fitness center was one of the better centers that I have encountered in an HGI. There were two Precor ellipticals that both worked well (including the attached TVs). There was also a Precor bike, a spinning bike, 2 ellipticals, a Universal type weight machine (with many attachments), free weights, and two benches. There were also plenty of towels, hand sanitizer, and water. I appreciated that I could access the gym at 4:30 on the day of my departure. The small outdoor pool included a separate whirlpool. The true highlight of the HGI was the restaurant. The food at HGIs can skew similar and a tad bland. I ate dinner there both evenings and both meals were fresh and tasty. The Cobb Salad and the pulled pork sliders were both surprisingly good. The bartender doubled as waiter and he absolutely worked his tail off both evenings while remaining attentive and friendly. The hotel was reasonably priced compared to hotels located closer to downtown Phoenix during spring break season. It certainly met my needs as a business traveler.

“Poor Shuttle Service But…”

My husband and I waited over an hour for the hotel shuttle bus to no avail. Despite calling the hotel twice about our location at the airport, the shuttle bus never arrived. My husband and I waited over an hour for the hotel shuttle bus to no avail. Despite calling the hotel twice about our location at the airport, the shuttle bus never arrived. We were forced to take a taxi to the hotel. With that glaring issue aside, the Hilton Garden Inn provided a comfortable room, walk-in shower, and good food amenities and service. The shuttle bus back to the airport the next morning was fine. Lesson learned: don’t rely on hotel shuttle service upon arrival at the Phoenix airport.

“Very convenient to the airport, great shuttle service”

As with another hotel review from this same trip, we checked in a bit late and left quite early, so we did not have that much time to observe things here. Check-in was smooth. As with another hotel review from this same trip, we checked in a bit late and left quite early, so we did not have that much time to observe things here. Check-in was smooth. We stayed on the 6th floor (of 10). There was no noise issue that I noticed. No complaints about the beds, bathroom, etc. We left before breakfast started, so I cannot comment on that. The room was quite spacious. The hotel / staff texted a couple of times (maybe automated) to confirm if we needed anything or if there were any issues. We didn't have any problems, but at least they are proactive about it. This property is less than 10 minutes away from Sky Harbor Airport via a shuttle, which you reserve via a QR code at the desk. The shuttle apparently runs at the top and bottom of each hour 24/7. The shuttle was full (at 5 a.m.) but the driver was helpful and efficient. The area close to the hotel seemed a bit sketchy. However, there also did not appear to be anything close to the hotel that would motivate you to walk in the area (restaurants, etc.). If you just need easy access to the airport for an early flight, this is worth considering.
