Positives: -The female afternoon clerk (when we checked in) and the femail evening clerk (that found us a coffee pot) were both friendly and helpful. -The shower and frig worked well. -The bed was a bit hard for my liking, but my husband thought it was fine. Negatives: -We had coffee packets in our room, but no coffee maker to use them with. After the clerk found us a coffee pot, there was no place to plug it in near the coffee area. -The microwave kept locking and had to be unlocked to get it to open each time it was used. -The afternoon clerk warned us that an error had been made during remodeling and the over bed lights could only be turned on by a switch that was located at mattress level behind the headboard. Very awkward, but at least we were told about it. -Sticky splotches on the floor. My husband's socks were black after an evening of walking in the room. -Our AC worked well, but every 10 minutes it sounded like nuts/bolts were being thrown around inside. It was extremely noisy ALL NIGHT LONG. -The shower had 3 bottles (2 conditioner and 1 shampoo) We were thinking one of the conditioners should have been a body soap? -The phone signal kept cutting out. I was sitting outside in the pool area and the phone disconnected 5 times during a 45 minute phone call. It was also pretty noisy due to the nearby freeway. -The breakfast was limited (oatmeal, bagel, yogurt). There was no seating in the breakfast room so it had to be taken back to the room, where there was only 1 rolling chair for two guests. The coffee had an undrinkable sour taste and the morning male clerk was not particularly welcoming. -Exterior. There were a lot of uneven areas along the walkways that would be easy to lose your footing on if not paying attention while getting luggage to the room. There were no lights near the ice machine at night which again made for a dangerous walk for those not familiar with the area. Overall: There aren't a lot of choices in the Barstow area, but at $80 we didn't feel this one was worth the price. We went to Rodeway on our last stay and would opt to stay there again if revisiting this area.
