I am really on the fence about how I feel about this property after my second stay here. I think if it was at a different price point, given how run down the property is, I'd have a higher review... I visited this past March and was super excited to return. I absolutely love Coronado, and we were visiting during unusual summer weather. The weekend of our stay, surprisingly, the rates were just SLIGHTLY less than the Hotel Del (and now I'm regretting not splurging on it..). The rooms here were really run down... carpeted and extremely dated furniture/bathrooms. Not the worst thing, but for the price point being top dollar it's a bit disappointing.. We were excited about the amenities, specifically the bikes, but the bikes are all greasy and falling apart... kind of a shame. The Pool was super crowded and the pool bar and restaurant was not open yet as this was considered off season - while I fully understand that they couldn't have predicted this spontaneous early summer that SoCal was experiencing, it was super slow and under staffed at the main bar/restaurant, as the pool customers all had to head to that bar for orders and there really only seemed to be one bartender there each day. Just would expect better staffing from Marriott.. (in addition to how slow the bar was, the drinks were astronomically priced... it felt like we were in vegas? For a non-beach front hotel, it seemed a bit egregious.. ) There is a coffee shop open in the morning but it closes between 10 and 10:30 am, despite the signage stating it's open until 11... The location of this hotel is nice and provides an alternative to the true downtown coronado area which can be a bit crowded. The views are really wonderful and it's a decent walk to another area that has shops and restaurants on the bayfront. One of my other issues with my room was the toilet... every single time you flushed, whether you click on the smaller button for less water or the larger button for more water, the toilet would spit water out and onto the floor. Pretty foul ... the shower was also very very small like a telephone booth despite the bathroom being large, as there was a massive tub in the bathroom.... wish they'd nix the tub and make a nicer more spacious shower... What i did love about our room was the view and the balcony ! :) all in all, we're Marriott Gold members which is why we prioritized staying at this hotel, but we won't be returning unless they heavily renovate. Again, being dated and the few complaints I have wouldn't be the deterrent if it wasn't astronomically priced (which really bothers me as theres no access to the beach, either). If we want to stay on coronado again in the future we'll stay elsewhere, but more importantly, we'd go back to the Marriott Marquis in downtown San Diego. (we would have stayed there in the first place but they were booked up the weekend we chose). That hotel is newly renovated, has proximity to everything in the downtown, is clean, and has tremendous service (and a beautiful pool area too!)

The staff was great. The property needs some TLC. The room condition was below Marriott standards. Room had musty smell.
