“Good location and rooms”

Visited with family for Cal Day at UC Berkeley. Good location, convenient rooms with enough space, friendly reception and daily room cleaning. Wifi was not consistent, so had to use my phone's data.

Stayed her over 20 yrs ago when it was 1st built and was the Woodfin Hotel. Now as the Hyatt House it looked a little different from what I remembered in the Lobby. Outside looks the same. Hotel has been kept up well. It's very clean, quiet and staff are cordial and attentive. Breakfast came with our room and was very good. My 2 yr old grandson loved the oatmeal with butter, brown sugar, maple syrup and milk with sausage patties. There was milk, orange and apple juice. Plenty of breads with muffins, bagels; fruit, granola, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, french toast or pancakes, dry cereals, etc. Breakfast was good qualify and plentiful. I visit the Bay Area often as I have family there and used to live there in the 70s. This is my preferred place to stay. I highly recommend this hotel. The location in Emeryville is fabulous! I felt safe at all times.

The room itself was excellent (5/5). We stayed in a one-bedroom suite on the 11th floor, and it felt like a modern, well-appointed mini-apartment. It was spotlessly clean, the full kitchen was a major plus, and the layout worked very well. Our room faced the back toward the train station, but from the 11th floor there were clear mountain views. The exterior windows were effective—train noise was not an issue when closed. I was very impressed with the Hyatt House concept and would seek out this brand again based on the room quality alone. However, one issue had a material impact on the stay. Between roughly 10am and 4pm, cigarette smoke was noticeable in the room every 20–30 minutes, and this occurred consistently over a three-day stay. The source was not identifiable—it was unclear whether it was coming through the ventilation system, from the hallway, or via the adjoining/connecting door—which made it difficult to report a specific origin. To manage this, the balcony door had to be opened frequently, which introduced significant external noise and flies. On several occasions, a strong cannabis-like odor (skunk smell) was also noticeable in the room; the source of this was similarly unclear. This level of recurring smoke and odor is not consistent with expectations for a non-smoking hotel.

“Good stay”

Close to food and shops. Enjoyed our stay. Suites have plenty of room for visitors and making meals and eating together.
