We booked this hotel as a stopping point along the way from San Francisco to the Redwood state parks. This hotel has lots of history and charm. We enjoyed walking around the property and reading the history behind the hotel and learning about all the people who once stayed there. The lobby was beautiful and very inviting. I wish the front desk had some cards or games we could have borrowed to play while hanging out in the lobby. There was a nice pool but it was too cold for us to use (we are from Texas). There were no places to eat at the hotel so we had to go into town and find something. The breakfast was fine, just your average hotel breakfast. Our room was quaint but small. We could not adjust the hearing or air conditioning unit beyond a certain point. I think the hotel set it to not go below a certain temperature. The bathroom was VERY small, our door would not open fully which made it difficult to be in the bathroom without it being closed and no more than one person could be in there at a time. This was challenging when there was two of us needing to use the only mirror in the room. There was NO hot water in the shower which was a very unpleasant experience. Adding an additional mirror in the bedroom would be super beneficial. We did visit the Eureka zoo while on our visit. It was quite small with only a handful of animals but the skywalk in the Redwoods was amazing! Overall, the hotel was nice and the staff was friendly I would recommend staying here especially if you enjoy history!

We chose the Eureka Inn for a two night stay because my partner wanted a hotel "with character." The Eureka Inn certainly has an interesting history, with classic 1930's decor, paintings of famous guests, and an old timey feel. But those qualities don't outweigh the negatives. The room was small and a bit stuffy, even in the temperate Eureka climate. The breakfast they offered was spartan, some cereal, toast, oatmeal, and a few microwavable items. Also, they don't have a working restaurant, so your options are limited. We also had challenges hot water. It got there eventually, but it took a while. All in all, the visit was fine. There was nothing bad about it, but also nothing great. If you want historical novelty, come to the Eureka Inn. If you are looking for anything above a two-star experience, go elsewhere.
