One of the Worst Hotel Experiences I’ve Ever Had – Dishonest, Rude, and Unprofessional. If you value your job AND your job’s expense report policies. DO NOT STAY HERE!! They will screw you over and your job could reprimand you for events outside of your control. Booked through Concur, I stayed (briefly) at the Sonesta Select near San Jose Airport and cannot stress enough how deeply disappointing and infuriating the experience was. This hotel is a scam wrapped in hospitality branding. Avoid it at all costs—especially if you’re a business traveler or someone who expects even basic integrity from a hotel. First, they blatantly lied about the amenities. The listing advertised a gym, a pool, and an on-site restaurant—none of which were available or operational when I arrived. When I brought this up, I was met with a smug shrug and a “well sometimes it’s open” excuse. This wasn’t a small oversight—it was outright false advertising. I should have stayed with a more reputable and reliable hotel. Second, I canceled my reservation early, well before checkout, and they still charged me for a full extra night I didn’t stay. I was told I’d face a cancellation fee unless I kept the reservation, and then they went ahead and billed me anyway. It was a trap—deceptive and predatory. And when I expressed that this level of dishonesty and rudeness was unacceptable the front desk staff literally laughed at me. I was stunned! This is the kind of place that will gaslight you, threaten you, and laugh in your face when you call out their poor behavior. Unprofessional. Dishonest. Disrespectful. There is nothing “select” about Sonesta Select. It’s a poor excuse for a hotel and a terrible choice for any traveler. They don’t care about your stay or your time. They exist because they are located near a popular airport and rely on one time travelers to pay exorbitant prices for a sub-par service, experience and hotel. Spend your money elsewhere—on a hotel that honors its word and treats its guests like human beings.
