“Adorable Inn with Great Service”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Garden Street Inn. The historic building is lovely, and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, as were the cookies available in the afternoon. We would definitely stay here again!

Great atmosphere. Great breakfasts. Location is a block from downtown. Room was great. Comfy bed. Nice tub and shower. Staff was very nice and accommodating.

I booked a stay at the Garden Street Inn last week, and it was such a lovely experience. I took the Amtrak in and arrived a couple of hours before check-in, but they kindly allowed me to check in early, which was incredibly convenient. The staff was warm, welcoming, and very accommodating throughout my stay. I stayed in the “Ah Louis” room, which was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and featured a large bathtub, which was a great bonus. The building is a bit older, so you can occasionally hear people in the hallways. That said, all the other guests during my stay were very quiet, and it never felt disruptive. In fact, the only time I noticed how full the inn was during breakfast. Breakfast was a highlight. I was expecting a standard buffet, but instead they prepare a fresh, made-to-order breakfast, along with pastries and fruit. Everything was delicious. They also offered a complimentary glass of wine at check-in, which I personally passed on, but it was a thoughtful touch. Although check-out was at 11:00am, they allowed me to store my bags for a couple hours so I could walk around before my train. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend it to anyone planning to explore the downtown area.

Second time staying here so we knew what to expect. We picked it again for its location and quaintness, this time in one of the larger upstairs bedrooms - "Close To Home" - that had a parlor. Each room has its own charm and own quirks. Loved the parlor space in the room and used it quite a bit. The bed was decent, but there was no chest to put clothes and no closet or even a rack to hang clothes - not even a hook anywhere - which is annoying and odd. Could have easily fit a rolling rack or something that could match the decor, so a demerit there. Another qualm is the breakfast. When we were there, it was typically one person who took orders, cooked and served, and usually did it one at a time. Go first thing a little before 8am to be front of the line, or wait until later, otherwise expect to wait 20 min up to an hour. The food itself was delicious (they serve only one dish - the "special"). The fact that it was close to downtown is why it got a four, rather than a three star. PS - don't need to park in the paid parking garage - there's free parking two blocks away up the hill...
