“Fantastic stay!”

Our stay in Room 14 was excellent. The space was clean, comfortable, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The quiet balcony provided a lovely view for our morning coffee, and the complimentary parking and bike rentals are standout perks. Overall, this is a great value for the location!

We decided to try a new hotel on this stay in Sana Barbara. We went with a place within walking distance of our reason for traveling, a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. We chose the Presidio Hotel. Due to a timing mix-up on my part we were arriving to the hotel hours before check-in time. The staff stepped up and got a room cleared and cleaned (they were fully booked the night before) and the front desk got us registered three hours early so that I could get in and catch some much needed sleep. The Had to make a stop overnight on our way to our final destination so this hotel choice was out of necessity. We were blessed by fate. From the moment we walked through the door the facility glowed with professionalism. The counter person – this was 11:30pm was cheerful and concerned for out comfort and well being. We were in our room in no time. This is a little thing but they had the new type luggage carts that made transporting everything MUCH easier. The room was CLEAN, furnished comfortably even though it was a cookie cutter chain design. The bed was very comfortable ( a huge plus) and the supplies were all of excellent quality. While we were only at the hotel the one night the staff and facility made a very positive impression on us. Wo story facility is old but maintained well. Our room was at the top of the stairs (no-elevator). The bed was good, the room was clean. The lone chair in the room, sadly, was broken. There isn’t coffee “pot” in the room or a microwave. There is small refrigerator. On the upside, the water is hot and gets hot fast. Also, it is well located. We literally walked to everywhere we needed to go on the trip. Bottomline, it is a simple, clean hotel with pleasant staff and conveniently located.

What The Presidio has going for it - the location! Right on State St. , a couple of blocks away, a short walk from Arlington Theater and some of our favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. It is cheaper than other hotels in the area, but still expensive in general, especially for a no frill kind of experience which I knew of when I booked it. We stayed for 1 night during an anniversary getaway weekend. I don't know if I'd stay here. It depends. When I booked our room, I mentioned I'd like a quiet room on top floor on the reservation. I called a couple of days before and they said they'd try. We had many bad experiences at various hotel due to noise, so we were concerned, especially that they close the front desk at 10 pm. Which made us nervous, not good! I don't know why they can't have anyone overnight! Upon check in, the lady working was distracting by her kid in the next room (who was watching cartoons) and didn't remember my request. She gave me a room on the ground floor, I asked to switch! And I got one upstairs! The room was clean which is a plus, big. Same with the bathroom. Plenty of room to put your things. A major minus - no coffee maker! That is too cheap! I knew about it, but still...Upon request, you can get an electric tea kettle from main desk. No microwave either! Just a fridge (placed in the bathroom) and a hair dryer. No clock or phone in the room! A jug of water in main area would be nice, especially that stores around close early! The soap dispenser in the shower had no soap! Need to bring the one from the sink or your own! Otherwise, the shower is easy to use, great water pressure! Staff woke us up, they started cleaning rooms too early, especially for a Sunday. How about after check out at 11 am? It's a small place. We couldn't get our TV to work. Had to unplug it, the screen froze at some point on the HDMI screen LOL. My husband called front desk, it was before 10 pm, but no one answered. When we checked out, the lady didn't apologize, she was a tad nonplussed by it. We didn't have time to watch much TV, but still. I wish main desk staff would be more caring. They are polite, but very detached and you feel too much on your own! You can grab a free bike. Not my thing. I liked their patio, it could be nice to relax with a beverage as an aperitif during a late summer afternoon. I'd say Presidio was decent. No major big drama. Safe area which is a plus! Just an OK stay. Could be better based on the price they charge. And comparing with other hotels of this type. More frills and bells could make your stay better!
