This place confused us before we even came here, because it was booked for us by my husbands company, and it was called Super 8 by Wyndham, Midtown. A Google search doesn't come up with anywhere by that name though, and instead calls it one of several names - Ramada, Quality Inn, Rodeway....seems to have changed hands a few times! I read some of the terrible reviews this place has on here, which made me nervous, but I decided to expect the worst and anything up from there was a bonus! Yes it is basic and has some faults, but it is also cheap. Here are some of the pros and cons: The good... Near to the city centre. We did a lot of walking or caught buses to save money on taxis, and found it pretty close to the places we wanted to go. Pepsi Centre is about a 20 min walk, LoDo 25 mins. We had to walk for about 10-15 mins to catch buses normally, and a 10 min cab ride costs about $7-8, but expect to add on 10-15% for a tip (15-20% in cafes and restaurants). Cheap (ish)! - While not super cheap, this is probably one of the lowest cost places this close to the city. Free breakfast - we are vegan so we used a lot of our own food at breakfast and obviously didn't try most things, but there was cereal, muffins, bread, bagels, some hot food (potatoes, patty looking things), and you can make your own fresh waffles. Staff were all real friendly, helpful, and approachable. The bad... 1 inch gap under the door (which opened to the outside), so we had some pretty chilly drafts blowing in, especially as it was January! Bathroom door didn't close or lock. Not a major problem as just me and hubby here, but felt a bit exposed at times! Weird heating that blew out cold air for about 10 mins before kicking back into heat again. We made the mistake of leaving it on for the first night, and woke up completely dehydrated with sore throats. The air in Denver is already very dry, so add heating/aircon and you'll need to up you water intake! Fridge in room had a broken temperature dial, and it must have been set to freezing because it froze all our food! We ended up just leaving our food by the draft of the front door, as it was probably about fridge temperature there! We told front desk and they said someone would look at it, but I don't know if anyone ever did as it didn't get fixed! Whole room was a bit run down, with some suspect stains on the carpet! No plug in the sink, and sink tap water never came out hot, but the shower was nice and hot and decent power. So all in all, I figure that if you go for the cheapest hotel in town then you need to expect it to have some faults. I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again, but as a base and a place to sleep it did the job for the week.
