I met a friend in Denver and this hotel worked well as a base for four days. The location was central. Driving in downtown Denver is confusing, and the two women who checked me in late on a Thursday night helpfully explained everything. The parking across the street was $27/day, not bad, and it was easy to come and go. I am an IHG member and breakfast was standard; the coffee was fine. As two women from major American cities in our late 30s, we did not feel uncomfortable walking back at night together on a weekend from the 16th St Mall. The walk to the area east of Broadway and south of Benedict Fountain Park (17th Ave especially) was definitely rougher. There were no issues with the room being worn out or unclean. The water pressure in the shower could have been stronger at times, but not in problematic way. I agree with prior comments that the scones at breakfast are good, and that cutlery in the room would have been nice. I would stay here again.

Here are my pros and cons for the hotel. I have to strain my mind to think of any CONS for this hotel so I am just giving you the PROS. Pros: 1. The kitchen facility was very good with all the equipment anyone would need. 2. We had an actual table in the room with four chairs. I do not remember seeing this in many hotels. We were able to work with both of our computers and eat at the table without having to take things off or push things around. 3. The breakfast was very good including, what I think were homemade scones. Good variety of breads, bagels and English muffins. 4. The location is very good. Just a few blocks from the Conventions Center, 17th Street, the Capital and the Denver Art Museum. 5. The room is clean and the bed was comfortable. 6. The staff is very nice and accommodating. 7. The also have an indoor pool (not Olympic), which I loved since I swim laps regularly. It was almost enough to do a decent workout. We would definitely consider staying here again.

“Distinct pros + cons”

PROS: Friendly staff at the front desk, room was quiet despite facing Colfax, Pretty clean despite the room showing its age. AC was strong in the room, didn’t smell musty. CONS: Room was very tired, wallpaper peeling, bathtub scratched up, carpet old. Not at the center of the convention center area, though nearby, I woudn’t feel safe walking around this area at night by myself. Very limited parking lot, so most people park across the street. Coming back from parking lot, two cop cars parked at the building and two officers were going up the elevators in flak jackets so that couldn’t be good… Breakfast was a definite C- and coffee was un-drinkable. Wish they offered less food with better quality. Fruit bar was clearly thawed fruit (mooshy berries etc). Shower was a trickle, more like taking a shower in a sink. Shower “curtain: with no liner / barely over the bathtub (not to the floor) so good thing there wasn’t pressure I guess. TP was SCRATCHY. Overall, ok for one night to be within 10 min of Ball stadium for a concert that went late, but can’t imagine staying here for very long.

The rooms were great but the rest of the hotel was mediocre. We had to request to get housekeeping before 4:30 pm. The pool was painfully cold. The breakfast buffet was average. We only went to the afternoon social hour once as the appetizer was mashed potatoes and fixings. The location was across from The Denver Mint which is nice if you want to visit.
