Timber Run is one of the older condo complexes in the area but it doesn't really show it's age. Timber Run is one of the older condo complexes in the area but it doesn't really show it's age. It has the advantage of being fairly close to the Gondola (15 minutes by foot) but not near all the noise. The complex has been accurately described by many others so I will try to limit my observations: Good: - cozy, well-lit, and in good condition (everything worked) - fully supplied kitchen (including stove, oven, microwave, full fridge, crockpot, corkscrews, plates, sharp knives, spare batteries and light bulbs (i.e., everything you need). All you need to bring is food. - Our condo had a King, 2 singles and a sleeper sofa; a table to seat 6, and a gas fireplace. - Our balcony did not face the parking lot (ask for one of those). - Shuttle service to the mountain was outstanding (every 10 minutes). Remember to tip the drivers. They work hard for it. - The front desk people were also great! Not Great: - Although the king-size bed was soft, the single beds were very hard and uncomfortable. If I hadn't been so tired at the end of the day, I never would have fallen asleep. They might be good for kids. This is my only real complaint. - There is only 1 washer and 1 dryer per complex, so time your visit. They have quarters at the front desk. Advice: - Run for the doughnuts at 8 AM every morning. The go fast because they are great. - Hot tubs are great but crowded at the end of the ski day, but just delay one hour until just before dinner time to soak. - Go to the Brau Haus just down the street. The atmosphere is casual and the people are very friendly. It is only a 10-minute walk and they do a great job of clearing the sidewalks so you don't have to walk on the road. - the free shuttle will also take you anywhere in the area (e.g., for dinner) and pick you up. - Enjoy the balcony.

“Stranded by Retreatia”

I have been to Steamboat at least once a year for the last 20 years and have stayed at Timber Run several times. We wanted to stay here for many reasons. We like the location, the shuttles were reliable, the service at the front desk was helpful, the units included all that we needed, the hot tubs were close and well maintained,, etc. Unfortunately, the association has chosen to cut corners and, aside from the hot tub, the reasons that we used to stay no longer exist. First i will talk about the management company, Retreatia. The shuttle was not reliable most of the time. We waited sometimes close to 30 minutes for the ski area shuttle that was supposed to be every 10 minutes. Calling Retreatia didn't work as they said they were doing the best they could. One night we decided to go downtown for dinner. When we were ready to head back, around 7:30 pm, we could not get a shuttle on the app they told us to use. We kept trying and finally, someone called my friend and told her that they would not have shuttle service for the rest of the night due to weather. Sure it had been snowing all day and was continuing, but this is a ski resort! We noticed that other shuttles, including the town bus were still operating and the roads did not appear to be that bad. Luckily we were able to get a bus to drop us off within 1/4 mile of the condo. We were told the next morning that one of the shuttles got stuck and that they only have 2 shuttles, to service 3-4 different areas. As for the condo unit, it was clean and had plenty of towels, which is good as they no longer have dedicated hot tub towels. The unit could have up to 6 people but we could not find extra blankets anywhere. Since there were only 3 of us we made it work. However, there was only one wine glass in the unit! Forget requesting anything as there was no one manning the front desk. If you wanted something you would have to call or go all the way into town to the Retreatia office. Needless to say we will think twice before staying here again, especially as the cost seems to be higher than some other condos on the mountain.
