“Great place to stay in DC”

The location is ideal. The hotel room was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly. The garden is exceptionally beautiful. We enjoyed our time here and would recommend for business and personal travel when visiting Washington DC.

Visited Omni Shoreham for a conference this spring. Washington, DC was beautiful, and the hotel grounds were gorgeous. There are bike paths all around the property, making it easy to get around and enjoy the city. The location is excellent, near the Adams Morgan neighborhood and close to the metro, which we used often. There is a great cafe right across the street I'd recommend - Open City. The hotel website still states that Omni offers rental bikes for a daily fee. We specifically planned for this and requested them upon arrival, only to learn the hotel stopped offering that service some time ago and has not updated the website. If biking is important to you, I would recommend using the city bike share day passes instead. There are stations nearby. I would avoid the overpriced Lyft bike options. The conference space itself was large and well designed, but extremely cold. Attendees started jokingly referring to it as the “Subzero Room,” “Frozen Tundra,” and “The Arctic.” There was also a strong cleaning chemical smell throughout the space. Additionally, the hotel was doing construction during the conference, and loud drilling interrupted several presentations. Thankfully, hotel staff responded when we raised concerns and had the drilling stopped, but it seemed like something that should have been anticipated before hosting professional conferences in the same area. Prior to arrival, the Omni reached out to confirm our check-in time and ask about room requests, which I thought was a thoughtful and proactive touch. I requested extra pillows and a blanket, and they assured me those items would be in the room before arrival. Unfortunately, they were not. There seems to be some disconnect between the guest service messaging team and the staff fulfilling requests onsite. The room itself was tidy but cold. Linens were clean, though visibly worn. Our duvet had what appeared to be repaired burn holes. When we requested an extra blanket again after check-in, the staff seemed frustrated and annoyed - explaining there had been many similar requests and that it would take a while if we still wanted it. As a suggestion to the hotel, providing an extra blanket and pillow in each room by default would likely reduce the burden on staff. This is fairly standard even at more budget-friendly hotel chains, and considering how cold the hotel was overall, it seemed like a very common guest need. On a positive note, the hotel restaurants and coffee shop were excellent, and the wait staff were warm and attentive. The hotel itself is historic, beautiful, and stately, though definitely showing some wear in places. The gardens and outdoor spaces were especially lovely to explore. We were also given complimentary drink coupons upon arrival and enjoyed sitting outside in the rocking chairs overlooking the gardens. Pros: Excellent location, beautiful grounds, historic charm. Cons: Communication gaps, lack of preparation for guest comfort, and avoidable conference disruptions. Stay here for the location if you can find a good deal, but lower your expectations on hotel experience.
