We spent a night here before touring UVA for our high schooler. I picked this location because sure it was the cheapest of the Hilton properties in the area. It’s definitely an older hotel that shows its age in some ways (like design), but has been renovated enough that it doesn’t feel old. Our room was typical, and we gratefully got our Doubletree cookies. The free coffee the next morning was much better than it had been the afternoon of our check-in. Because we have Diamond status, we were allotted $30 food & beverage credit. We didn’t need it for the restaurant, so we opted to grab some snacks from the mini market area - that was a bust, lol! We normally can get some road trip snacks, but the only snack available was a few bags of overpriced Skittles - we got them and a few drinks, but wished we had a better selection. The pool looked lovely, but it sits below the walkway to the elevators above, so people are constantly walking by. That didn’t give our teens a great vibe, so we didn’t use the pool. I did use the gym in the morning and got a great workout with the Peloton and dumbbells. Overall, I would stay here again, especially with the price staying low!

The Hotel is showing its age, especially in the room and mostly a '80s bathroom. The Hotel is showing its age, especially in the room and mostly a '80s bathroom. We have stayed here many times over the past 25 years (son is a UVA grad) and while further out of the city found its facilities to be sufficient. We noted several years ago of the main floor (3rd floor) with its lobby and bar/restaurant having been upgraded. Entering the room after a long day, we found the ice bucket 🪣 with a broken handle. How hard to replace it by the staff who surely knew it was broken! Plastic glasses adds to the Doubletree insult! The bath's cabinet is an original piece of the room. The tub, we suspect orginal and showing its age with grab bar not useful. Older folks don't care for tub baths, if at all possible. While the breakfast buffet was plentiful, with an omlett bar, our servicer rushed to clear our table while two of our party was still enjoying their meal. No one was waiting,in fact, there were only two other tables in use!! Why rush, other than the fact it was approaching the closing time? Doubt that we will return in a future Charlottesville visit.

I can't blame the hotel for the busload of exuberant college athletes staying on our floor, but I can blame them for the lack of weatherstripping around the room doors. Because of this, every door slamming on the hall sounded loudly in our room, and every adjacent door slamming caused our door to rattle loudly in the doorframe. Our room was otherwise spacious and comfortable--if a bit worn--with a good bed and decent-sized shower. It would have been a good value at about $150/night, but we paid over $900 for two days with breakfast NOT included.
