For our last night in Florida after 15 days of staying at various Marriot hotels throughout the 2 weeks, we did not have a great experience at check in or at breakfast. We get to the hotel after a horrific 5 hour journey, unload the car (there are 5 of us) for our last night in Florida. The receptionist couldn’t find our reservation. I couldn’t get the app to work on my phone. So we loaded up the car again and I tried to work with the receptionist to find my reservation or get access to the internet. After about 15 minutes I finally get the confirmation number from the lobby computer, wait my turn again as the receptionist was speaking with another guest. She looks me up and says oh yes you are on the list. I was looking for the wrong name. Mind you, I offered her my license at first as I have a double last name and sometimes people don’t know where to look. But when we first got there she said she couldn’t find me at all. I get the family to reunpack the car as I finish check in. We are visiting from the UK so when I give her my UK photo drivers license as ID, she says, don’t you have a local address? I’m like do you need my passport? Is this ID not good enough? It was for Every. Other. Marriot. Hotel. She said no that’s fine and finished the check in. Not informing us that we had to pay for parking (this hotel is no where near anything that you can walk to and paying for parking is a a money grab). We call down for extra towels and pillows as the room is set up for 3 guests, not five despite it being a family room for 5. She says she will call us back. No call after an hour so my husband goes down to ask again. And she replies, I said I would call you if I had them. I didn’t call so I don’t have them. We let it go. It was our last night. When we went out for dinner she was on her phone on personal calls and completely unprofessional. Look, I get working over the Christmas and New Year Holidays SUCKS. But travelling to see family also sucks. So some mutual respect and kindness would not go amiss. Hotel is being renovated so it will look stunning when it’s done, but be aware the ongoing work if you stay in the few weeks/months. Breakfast was ok - but when we went down at about 7/8am there was no milk and overall the offerings weren’t as good as the other SpringHill Suites we stayed in at WestShore in Tampa or Central Tallahassee. I wasn’t going to say anything at all but on check out, a new staff member was there and asked how our stay was. I almost said fine. But instead I said, it could have been better. She said I am so sorry to hear that. Tell me more. So I did. Turns out this was the assistant manager. I had no idea. She put 15k of points into to our account to apologise (unnecessary but gratefully received). Cherry - thank you for trying to put things right. Just wish I had known about the parking fee though! So overall - decent location, hotel will be stunning when refurbishment is completed, PRINT out your confirmation (don’t depend on the app as it crashes at inopportune moments), be mindful of parking fees and don’t be afraid to speak up if someone asks about your stay.

Stayed here for a recent soccer tournament. Rooms were not all that clean. Our AC did work great. There was a distinct odor to the room that was quickly overpowered my the small of marihuana coming from the adjoining room. Pool was small for the size of the hotel. Location was convenient to the highway but nothing else really walkable. They did close the lobby on us at 10:00 and the elevator that was working was scary, slow and noisy.
