We decided to return to this hotel since our regular Holiday Inn hotel is being reconstructed for a new luxury hotel. This resort needs a lot of maintenance. We heard they're tearing it down to build a luxury hotel. This sandcastle and the Holiday Inn are operated under the same management. We booked the courtyard this time and got a nice ground-floor room facing the yard and the beach. We were greeted by a lovely lady, Ray Ray, at the front desk. Because we got there early, she explained that we could come back at 1, and they'd make the preparation for the room to be ready. We prefer the courtyard view than the ocean views because we get to see the ocean daily, even from our courtyard room. We booked the double bed so I could place my seashells on the other bed, lol. The room had a mini fridge, safe, huge flat-screen TV with limited channels, shower room and two sinks with one faucet that didn't seem to work well, a big closet, big drawers, a big desk, and a nice coffee table for two, and outside coffee table for two outside as well. If you're lucky, you'll meet Cameo at the reception. He's a parrot owned by Kathy, who works at the front desk. She was nice enough to share the parrot with the guests once a week. Cameo shows some love and talk to you, too. Britney and Everliss, who work at different front desk hours, are also helpful. We had breakfast and lunch at their restaurant on separate days. We met nice and warm staffers at the restaurant, Wanda and Grace. We also used the beach and the pool daily. The beach was terrific. The last time I was here, it was excellent too, with clear water and tons of seashells! There were two pretty deep pools up to 8 ft. We had a great big salad by the pool for lunch. Btw, the hotel offers cold water bottles daily. Feel free to pick them up in the lobby or by the pool. We enjoyed staying here and can’t wait to see their makeover. We hope the new hotel will still be affordable. We’re returning to the same hotel in a few months, and we hope we will have a pleasant stay like this visit. We are very thankful for the treatment we received. Five stars for the service!

First, let me say that the location right on the beach and close to the mangroves is awesome. That is why I picked this place. If you are interested in kayaking through the mangroves, it is a five minute walk to kayak rentals. The beach is amazing. Otherwise, this is far from a fancy resort hotel. Decor is dated, although rooms were clean and comfortable enough. Some parts of the hotel looks particularly run down, although I think there were renovations underway. There are not a lot of dining options nearby, but the hotel provides a free shuttle to St. Armands Key, which has several shops and restaurants. I felt like it was good value for the money so long as you know what to expect.

We’re here for the 3rd and 4th of July, so our plan was to get our own private little spot on the beach without the hustle and hassle of getting all your own beach stuff like chairs, umbrellas, parking, beach spots, etc but I’m kind of doubting everything now. Firstly the sand over on this side of lido is totally different than 400 meters away north up to the public beach. This isn’t the hotels fault but I’m just saying, for future travelers. The hotel itself is about to collapse. We were lucky enough to have The amenities working like AC, hot water, coffeemaker, fridge etc but everything else is quite gross like the carpets and bathroom. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing I am saying I’m lucky to have amenities 🥲. The absolute WORST part is the blankets. It’s like a weird fleece sandwich blanket. A sheet, a fleece in between, and a sheet on top. So if you turn your body any certain way - good bye comfort! 😡Anyway, the pool is nice and the balcony has a nice view? It is kid friendly because there’s elevators and kiddie pool. The staff is helpful and nice though. It’s good that I can speak some spanish.
