If you are looking for upscale or all shiny & brand new, this isn't the place. BUT if you are looking for friendly and helpful staff, a building that is secure at night and only accessible by room key, a clean & comfortable hotel in a quiet neighborhood that is also convenient to many local attractions, and all at a decent price, then this is your place. We were in town both for business and leisure, and we unexpectedly had a schedule change for a Monday meeting and requested later checkout. The lovely desk clerk who worked Sunday afternoon/evening on 04/26/26 was very helpful and immediately offered us 1 PM checkout while apologizing she couldn't make it any later. It worked out perfectly for us, and it was so nice to not have to pack up everything and go find a place to kill several hours The public areas and grounds are well kept, clean, and in good repair as are guest rooms though one can see the signs of age and use on some furnishings and in some areas where paint touchups and such have probably been frequent and not always neatly done. The beds are very comfortable, and the baths are clean and well maintained and supplied with the usual amenities which, to our great appreciation, were properly replenished between guests which is far better than we can say for another much more upscale local hotel we've stayed in multiple times. The kitchenettes provide the bare basics one might need in a long-term stay. We loved having an icemaker and full-size refrigerator, as we were preparing and transporting some food for a weekend event in the area. The hotel is surrounded by condominiums, apartments, and office buildings, and while Piedmont Road is very busy, the hotel is ultimately quiet. For extra quiet, ask for a room with a pool view, as those interior rooms do not face any street and have the insulation of the outer rooms. Rooms on the north side (right side if facing the front of the building) don't catch rising sun or traffic noises, but early on Saturday morning is when the garbage truck empties the dumpster on that side of the building, so it will startle you awake.
