We had a wonderful time at the Andaz. We have 3 generation trip and it was perfect for all of us. Walked down the beach with the chairs just a bit and had the beach to ourselves every morning till we got hungry around 1:00. Have a pool view room which was perfect to watch the kids and grandkids in the pool or just people watch. Took the Welzie painting class with the grandkids and we had so much fun!! Breakfasts were great. A stress free week :)

“Loved it and would go back.”

An awesome anniversary and birthday celebration here for a week. An awesome anniversary and birthday celebration here for a week. We had a good size ocean view room with a mini fridge ( two soft drinks per day) and Nespresso coffee and two maui chips and Hawaiian cookies daily. The resort is beautiful. The 5-6 pools are awesome. Food menu is limited and expensive, but we had daily resort credit which yook care of it. Staff are friendliest ever. Kari at Buffett breakfast was so attentive and friendly. There was a hiccup during our stay and Kodi took care if it. Will definitely go back. Mahalo Andaz Maui for a great memory! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

“Nice Views, Poor Service”

The Andaz Maui has a beautiful beach and an excellent location. The facilities have a luxury feel, and are adult oriented, but kid friendly (what we were looking for). We paid more than $10,000 for an ocean-view suite at the Andaz where we stayed with our 1-year-old baby. Unfortunately, the service at the hotel did not come close to justifying the price point. The biggest issue was housekeeping. When we first checked in on Monday, there was hair left on the shower wall. On Wednesday morning, we left the hotel around 7am and requested that our room be cleaned. When we returned at 1pm for our baby’s nap, it still had not been serviced. We left again to swim in the pool so we could be nearby while the room was cleaned — even though it had been raining on and off. We came back around 3pm just as housekeeping was beginning to clean. We were all soaking wet and cold — including our baby — because the rain started pouring when we were swimming. We had to wait in the living room wrapped in towels even though we were dying for a hot shower. Because we were waiting there, the cleaning felt rushed, and they failed to remove all of the trash or clean the bar/kitchenette. The following day was even worse. We left the room and requested cleaning before 9am, but it still hadn’t been cleaned when we came back around 3pm. We walked past the housekeeper standing at the elevator end of the hallway on our way to the room. Then minutes later, the same housekeeper came knocking and asked if we wanted him to do a “quick cleaning” which as he explained involved “making the bed, replacing the towels and taking out the trash.” Of course we said yes. But we also felt that the housekeeper purposely came to clean right when we came back so he could only do a “quick” cleaning without intruding. We felt like we weren’t even offered the “choice” of a proper cleaning by the housekeeper—which is absolutely ridiculous. For the price we paid for the room, daily proper cleaning of the whole suite should’ve been a given. But that was not the case, housekeeping only made the bed and replaced the towels but did not properly clean the room or empty a trash can filled with dirty baby diapers from the two previous days. We complained to guest services immediately and were told someone would come remove the trash, but no one ever did. In fact, right after we complained, we saw the same housekeeper down the hall with his cleaning cart standing outside another room but he inexplicably did not come to collect the trash from our room. The hotel later claimed that housekeeping had not entered because our privacy button was on and they wanted to respect it. That explanation did not address why the room had been only partially serviced earlier or why no one followed up during the 4 hours after guest services specifically promising to remove the trash and before we turned on “do not disturb.” The next morning (the 5th and last full day of our stay), at the hotel’s request, we called guest services to arrange housekeeping. The representative initially pushed back and said they would need to check housekeeping availability. After we explained that we had already complained the day before, we were assured someone would be sent immediately. So we purposely took a long walk around the property after breakfast for the room to be cleaned. We came back an hour later, and the room still had not been cleaned. We had to complain yet again. This time we complained to the front desk manager in person. That was when we finally got a proper room cleaning after multiple complaints over many days. Guest services eventually called to apologize and gave us a $200 credit, but by that point it was too little, too late. In addition to poor housekeeping, pool service was also slow: we often saw used pool towels strewn across vacant chairs by the pools and barely any staff around cleaning up and/or taking drink orders — not a relaxing sight. Also, Morimoto was disappointing. The advertising of the restaurant gave us the impression that it was a Japanese restaurant, but the food was not Japanese: one of our appetizers was sashimi but dressed with a Chinese warm garlic oil soy sauce dressing and topped with pieces of iceberg lettuce, and one of our mains was a korean bibimbap. Breakfast buffet was good but inconsistent.
