“The Best Place To Stay in Los Angeles”

We stayed at the Magic Castle in November 2025 and previously in May 2023. Both times were outstanding. However, the staff at the Magic Castle really knocked it out of the park the second time (which didn't seem possible, but they did!). When we arrived, the staff had a bottle of chilled champagne in the room, thanking us for being repeat guests. That really brightened things after a long drive to the airport, a four-hour flight, and driving in a rainstorm from Burbank to Hollywood during rush hour. Unbeknownst to anybody at the hotel, their thoughtful gift of champagne was exactly what we needed the next day. Why? The day after our arrival, we went to Glendale to watch the filming of an episode of The Price Is Right. While there, our daughter "came on down", winning a car and a bunch of other prizes. The thoughtful gift of the champagne was more than anyone would have known and appropriate beyond anyone's initial realization. It was the cherry on top of what was ultimately a very good trip, which included excursions to Long Beach and Santa Barbara. When we decided to make a second visit to LA, the Magic Castle was the only place we wanted to stay. If we return to Los Angeles (and we likely will), there is really no other place to stay other than the Magic Castle. We have stayed in many hotels across the United States. All pale in comparison to the Magic Castle.

“Super Chill Holiday in the Heart of the Hollywood”

The Wanderer Family USA had an amazing time at the Magic Castle Hotel at the end of last month. The location is perfect -- about an hour from LAX airport, 10 minutes from Universal Studios, and a 4-minute walk to The Walk of Fame. Sure the place is a little dated, but the excellent staff and free perks make up for it -- and then some. We loved the Popsicle Hotline, 24-hour junk food and soda fountain, and soft serve ice cream (open late). Parking was very easy – just try to work around rush hours. Heated Pool. Not crazy big, but then again, the hotel is not that big, so it is large enough for everyone who wants to enjoy a refreshing dip. Add in The Popsicle Hotline, and everyone who partakes is bound to be in Seventh Heaven. Excursions. Highlights included: (1) Universal Studios on Friday and Monday to avoid bigger queues; (2) the bus tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, which included a wave from actor Coleman Domingo; (3) Santa Monica Pier; (4) Griffith Observatory; (5) Los Feliz Par 3 Golf Course of “Swingers” fame (check out our YouTube!); and (6) a short visit to the massive The Hollywood Bowl; (7) and top-notch restaurants such as Musso & Frank Grill, L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele, and Mel’s Drive-In. “Unique Experience”

As a person who has stayed at many hotels, the Magic Castle is without a doubt a very unique travel experience. As local LA residents, we booked our stay because of the included entry tickets to the Magic Castle next door. The location of the hotel is excellent, with literally a two minute walk to the Castle (we were told they offer a shuttle if we needed it, but it wasn't necessary.) The location of the hotel was also walking distance to many of the Hollywood sights, like Grauman's Chinese theater and Hollywood Blvd, so I can see it being an attractive location for tourists. We drove ourselves there, and were happy to see that there was gated parking for free under the hotel, with plenty of spots to choose from. The hotel appears to have once been an old LA apartment converted into a now motel. It looked like many of the rooms had kitchens, living rooms, etc. but since we were there for only the night, we booked the cheapest option which was the Queen Room. We were a bit surprised upon entry into the room. It's definitely very dated. The furniture seemed new'ish, but the room was quite small, dark, with a tiny window -- and a loud old fashioned AC unit. The bathroom also was quite small, was very beat looking, with a large stain under the toilet, peeling paint front the toilet seat, and a strong sulphur smell anytime we turned the shower water on. It did appear clean, but the room could use a renovation for sure. And for the steep charge of over $300/night, the room didn't seem to meet those prices. Upon saying that, the amenities of this hotel, must be what wins people over. There is unlimited ice cream, soda machine, champagne upon check-in, the popsicle hotline, and 24 hour a day snacks and candy! I have never in my life stayed at a place, where you can just walk up to the front desk and be handed over candy bars, cookies, and chips all day. For kids, this hotel is definitely a win. They also have free laundry offered. Also, a huge shout out to the staff as well. Literally everyone working there was not just helpful, but genuinely nice, enthusiastic, and accommodating in every way possible. Maybe even the friendliest staff we have ever encountered in all of our travels. Overall, If you can overlook the dated motel vibes, and want to enjoy a unique experience with unlimited snacks and pool, then this place is for you. But I think with a little updating and renovation, this hotel could really knock it out of the park.
