A very cool hotel in downtown Hood River, one block from the train station where the Mt Hood Railroad Christmas Train loads up. Very quaint. Comfy Swedish breakfast and lunch cafe next to the lobby. It ain't the Hilton though, but you'll love it. Fireplace in the lobby. Homey. There are stairs, but take the elevator: you open the door and slide back a gate and step in. Size of two phone booths. Close the gate and push the button: up you go. Our room had terrific beds and a hot water radiator for heat! Very cozy place but it's not your upscale new place. Park on street, but pay the meter or you can get a ticket after 8AM or before 6PM. Almost like a bed and breakfast.

We stayed in a historic queen room (#307) for 2 nights midweek mid-July with our pup. Enjoyed the view of train station below and river beyond. Bed was very comfy. Bathroom is small, with a separate small sink area in the bedroom, and the shower worked well. The air conditioning worked great which was appreciated during the very hot days. Location is fantastic. Reception was very welcoming including a great treat bag for our pup. A note about parking: the hotel recommends the Mt Hood Railroad lot located 1 block from the hotel for $18 per day. We used street parking (8a-6p) with the ParkMobile app. It has a 3 hour max but no problem adding more time. The whole town is in the same zone. During our 2 night stay we had 5 ParkMobile charges totaling $17.50 so we saved half and there was no problem finding street parking right near the hotel. The pet fee is $25 per night and we were a bit miffed by a daily “Amenity Fee” of $9.00 (plus tax to make it $10). We were offered one beer or wine on arrival and there was coffee in the lobby but would prefer to not have those extra fees. Because of the ideal location we would definitely stay here again.
