It wasn’t good circumstances that brought me to Staybridge Suites in Rockford. As soon as I arrived, Abby was warm, friendly, accommodating, and very helpful. It meant a lot to me, especially on a bad day, coming in from the pouring rain. She was able to get me into my room before scheduled check in, and on short notice. I could honestly write a book on how kind she was to me on my entire stay. She is amazing!!! The hotel is very lucky to have her working here. Larcell is also amazing! He’s so incredibly friendly, personable, funny, and is always dressed sharp for work. He also made my stay here great. Anything I needed, he could produce. An uncommon charger for my headphones. A portable car battery charger. Had suggestions for car rentals and other needs. He always had just the thing! I appreciate his kindness so much. Both of these staff are who I had the most interaction with. Both made me feel like family, at a time when I needed it most. Genuine kindness to strangers is a gift, and both have it in abundance. Raven is also very kind, and professional. She greets everyone with a smile that makes your soul feel good. All of the staff are wonderful. I was confronted and accused by the head housekeeper, of hiding a dog. LOL!! She meant business. I had brought a blanket from home that apparently had dog hair all over it. She let me know it too. Every hotel needs strong women running things, and that one is a tiger! She has no problem standing her ground, and that is also an excellent trait. The hotel is clean. The staff does an excellent job. The food the provide is also great quality. They have excellent choices every day for breakfast. There’s always fresh fruit. The social they have is also great. I loved the salad bar so much! Having good fresh produce available is something I really appreciated. Also that Easy Eddy IPA! Good stuff. Things I feel could use improvement: -The laundry facilities. The dryers take forever, like they’re clogged with lint. 2 hours to dry a small load. It’s inconvenient especially when other guests are trying to do laundry too. You could use more, and better machines. -The pool!! It’s actually kind of gross, to be honest. The water looked kind of green. The ceiling paint is so damaged, hanging, and ready to fall into the pool. Rust everywhere, and gross looking windows. -The TV in my room, I did not enjoy at all. Every button you push, it says out loud. I mean loud! You can’t turn it off either. It irritated me so much, I gave up and just watched my phone instead. -The furniture in my room was also very old and dinged up. The tables were all chipped up. The box spring cover looks yellowed and off putting. My couch had what looked like a blood stain, so I never sat on it. I feel if the hotel updates a few more things, they will be well on their way to being a 5 star facility. I’m only pointing out things I noticed in hopes they reinvest into their wonderful hotel. I enjoyed my stay here very much. I would stay here again, and recommend it to others for sure. Thank you to all the staff. Even the ones I don’t remember their names. What a top tier team!! 👍🏻

“Great room!”

The 2-bedroom king suite was an amazing room with 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living area. The 2-bedroom king suite was an amazing room with 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living area. While I have a small poodle (a breed many allergy sufferers can tolerate), my allergies kicked in badly in the room. It appeared quite clean, yet when we arrived, there was some coin change on the living room and the bedroom floor. I wonder if it had really been vacuumed. The gym's equipment provided a decent workout, the pool was well-maintained and heated, and there were many breakfast options. The lobby area with the fireplace was a nice touch. I would stay here again but would bring a vacuum to avoid the Claritin run.

“Solid stay, easy access from highway, friendly staff”

Staff was very nice, breakfast larger than normal, nice and clean and organized, rooms a bit dated and super loud people above us with their walking-so thin floors between the floors. I’d ask for a 4th floor room next time

“Mixed bag”

The good: Nice big rooms, some with a separate living room, at an affordable rate. Nice breakfast. Convenient location. Responsive staff. Clean rooms. The good: Nice big rooms, some with a separate living room, at an affordable rate. Nice breakfast. Convenient location. Responsive staff. Clean rooms. The not so good: Hallways have a weird armpit smell. Gym has two treadmills one of which is broken. Beds seem quite old. Very few plugs- like, guys, most hotels have lamps that feature chargers and sockets in them now! But the worst is the stupid key cards. We had to get approximately 8 key cards replaced because they got demagnetized. Over a two night stay! They were not near wallet, phone, keys (god forbid). Just... stopped working. They won't tell you about this in advance, so bring some sort of protective sleeve for your card or prepare to get locked out, like, a lot. Good waffles, though.
