Went to an event at the hotel this weekend. the food was absolutely terrible! the adiago chicken was certainly not what I had in mind when ordering it. it was basically a unglorified chicken strip, straight out of the freezer. our table did not get salad, dessert or drinks. For the most part the serving staff didn't speak English, so I'm guessing a lot got lost in translation. the bartenders were great and personable. our hotel room was nice. there is a definite need for more trash cans in the rooms. front desk staff was great. there was a broken elevator and I know other event goers were irritated as well as other guests. it took forever to get an elevator. if I'm staying on the upper floors, I don't want to have to take 8 or 9flights of steps. The food and the elevator were my biggest issues with our experience .

Traveled for work and was here for 9 nights. Check was quick but not particularly friendly. Marriott good status not acknowledged on check in. Was given mid level room, but my coworkers with no status or not even a bonvoy account, had higher rooms with robes, slippers and club access. Fine. Sat on the bed in my room and sunk so deep that my legs weren’t visible anymore. Complained to front desk who couldn’t move rooms or have this addressed the same day. Subsequently had a horrible nights sleep. Was promised it would be remedied when I returned the following night and that he (Brian) old communicate with evening staff on if it could be fixed or room change. Upon returning for my second night, staff had no idea of the situation. Upon call to Brian by front desk staff, it was found that the box springs were broken and replaced. Ok, but bed was still soft. Left a note requesting robe and slippers as coworkers (without bonvoy status on higher floors had them). Was left two pairs of slippers. Wore one. Modified note the next day to request a robe. Robe was not provided and slippers removed. As others have mentioned, breakfast not worth the price if you are paying privately. It’s the equivalence of an included Fairfield or Hampton breakfast for $14.95. Did not try the restaurant, but the bar was significantly overpriced. Old fashioned served on small cubes rather than big rock and cost more than any other bar/restaurant that we visited in Des Moines. The hotel was trashed on the weekend. Club baseball over took with kids running around wet from the pool not drying off. Breakfast and tables dirty. Wet floors and elevators. Not much hotel could do, but the couldn’t keep up cleaning after the kids. Overall, meh. Rooms is fine but service inconsistencies, and over priced food, couple it’s too soft bed leaves for a meh experience. The only saving grace was Brandon who was super friendly, helped to remedy issues, and gave great restaurant advice.
