Wonderful hotel in the middle of Bourbon Country! The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast offers many choices. The hotel is close to restaurants and easy to get to off the interstate.

The hotel is a quick drive to Buffalo Trace Distillery and other distilleries. It is a great bargain, including breakfast. It is an older hotel, with an older "feel"and decor, but is clean and comfortable. Both Todd and Frank are welcoming and helpful.

The best way I can rate this hotel is with pros and cons. For us - the cons would have been fine if we were ready for them, but they both affect the price point for us. Pros: - Easy to get to, decent location (close to the highway, restaurants, low traffic volume, etc.) - Nice breakfast with decent food - Nice indoor/outdoor pool - spacious rooms with newer carpet - small fridge and microwave in the room - The first floor has motel (outside) entry and hallway entry to the room. The second floor is indoor entry only (no outside walkway). By the time we arrived, only 2nd floor rooms were available. Cons: - There is no elevator on the 2-story building, BUT, there is a way to take a luggage cart through the pool area up a ramp to the 2nd floor, so we didn't have to lug everything up stairs. It's worth keeping in mind - This is almost a deal-breaker for us... We pay specific attention to the bed size (and private bathroom vs shared bathroom, which is not a problem here) EVERY time we travel outside the U.S.. Many places outside the U.S. advertise double beds but don't specify whether they are queen or full size and we have to clarify the size because we simply can't sleep together in a full-size bed (we never could, but medical issues make it even harder as we age). It's been decades since we had to pay attention to this in the U.S.. Well, this hotel has FULL-size double beds in their rooms with 2 beds, which means we choose between spending our vacation in separate beds or we don't get any sleep if we try to share a full-size bed. This is not our idea of a vacation. The hotel was full, so they couldn't move us to a single KING room...and it turns out, because we booked through a 3rd-party website, they said they wouldn't change our room anyway. So, we spent our long weekend in a nice large hotel room, sleeping in separate beds. The most odd part is...the headboards are actually queen-size, so the bed is smaller than the headboard. Clearly, the room and headboard installed was designed for bigger beds but they simply didn't buy bigger beds. The beds were comfortable enough, but the cost of the room was NOT worth the price of other similar hotels, and we would not have stayed here had we known double-bed meant FULL-size instead of queen-size. We will start paying more attention to our choices in the US too. In the end, the stay would have been 4-5 stars with queen beds. I almost rated it 2-stars, but went with 3-stars because everything else was fine. I would say, the bed size should cut about 20% off the room rate compared to other hotels (which was NOT the case for our rate), so you might want to consider that when you look at this property and cost.
