This is such a better experience than the old hotel that was here. the lobby is nicely done and smells wonderful. I met the owner and he and his family are very nice folks and would give them my business every time. although the renovations are not quite finished it looks great with what has been completed. one would have to have seen the old hotel to appreciate the differences. I stayed in the unfinished portion of the hotel but was satisfied with my room as it had everything i needed. The new king sized bed was so comfy. housekeeping was awesome and catered to all my needs even making my bed and cleaning my room. When i checked in the front desk lady was so cheery that it made me smile. the indoor pool is a nice amenity and indoors to boot. you really don't see indoor pools much. Great job so far and cant wait for my next visit and the complete hotel.

When i arrived in Owensboro, i came to find hotel prices were sky high all over town due to sporting events, summer hi season rates, among other reasons... So, when i saw the Wingate nightly rates were lower than most, i didn't have high expectations. Well, for the most part, i was wrong. I saw some negative reviews, but my king room was newly remodeled, with plenty of charging ports. And unlike most hotel rooms, the window had actual room darkening blinds, so almost no morning sunlight got into my northeast-facing room.... It had a fridge and microwave, and i have to say, the freezer section did its job better than most mini fridges i've come across.... The front desk staff were friendly. Breakfast was average....it had all the basics and some hot items like eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage etc, but the juice machine was malfunctioning and was dispensing lukewarm juice, plus they were out of apple juice... Also, the seating area was too small, especially when there's a big push of people arriving... Nevertheless, the lady tending the breakfast worked hard to tidy the room and keep things stocked. In addition to the indoor pool, there was a hot tub....a relatively rare sight at this level of lodging. Also, the pool towels were real towels....big and plush, unlike the chintzy towels you often see. There was a fenced-in outdoor patio area with tables, umbrellas, chairs and lounge chairs....the caveat is they looked like they haven't been cleaned since last year....bird poop on the chairs, dried food and general grime on everything. If management is reading this review, you got a good thing going outside... At the very least, get the maintenance guy to hose down the furniture a coupla times a week.... And also the hotel windows...mine was filthy with bird poop. In conclusion, despite my complaints, the Wingate in Owensboro exceeded my expectations. The good outweighed the bad, thus i can recommend staying here.

We was in town for a An archery tournament with kids. We was looking forward to letting the kids unwind in the afternoon after they shot their tournament in the pool. When we checked in we was told the pool was not heated and it felt like an ice box. We had some upset kiddos because of this. The rooms are small, the beds are really small. No where to really put ur luggage. The bathrooms are small, not a lot of room to move around. The smell of bleach was really strong. If your sensitive to smells that could be an issue We made it work!!
