“Miami Beach GO for it!!”

Quick stop before a cruise and the room and view couldn’t have been better. Staff are great. Walking path and all things to do were perfect! Beach (not pool) chairs are guaranteed with room. The area in front of the hotel is crazy busy and parking is expensive Uber or taxi if you can.

We had a nice stay. The staff overall is very friendly and helpful. Our rooms had housekeeping every day. The hotel is very clean and so was the pool. They have a nice wellness program with a daily outdoor yoga class by the pool. The yoga under palm trees was truly lovely! The yoga instructor was experienced and knowledgeable. The kids played in the pool and at the beach. They helped themselves to food at the onsite restaurant or the vending machine. They had a little independence even while with the family. My husband and I were able to relax.

Easiest way to write this is as a pros/cons. Positives 1. Location. an easily accessible journey from the airport, within 10-15 minutes. Ubers are always available! In mid-beach, this location was quiet, family friendly, safe, and free from any spring break shenanigans. 2. Pool(s) and beach. There are 2 available pools and the beach access is simply steps away. 2 Chairs and umbrella available per room! The decision to utilize the pool or beach is easily managed and even easier to transition between the two as the sun moves throughout the day. 3. Pool and bar staff. SO friendly! Shoutouts to Marti, Dan, and Omar! We loved the informal "take a beach kit, leave a beach kit." Our girls enjoyed borrowing beach toys and boogey boards. 4. Access to the Miami Beach Boardwalk. This pedestrian superhighway is simply amazing to a visitor from the north. This strategically placed people mover separates the hotels from the beach from the north to the south of Miami Beach. Just steps from the hotel, guests can rollerblade, run, walk, skip, or gallop to access other properties, restaurants, playgrounds, etc. 5. The beach. We were more than surprised by the quality of the white sand, the upkeep by the city of Miami Beach (from an early riser who observed the daily cleanup and preparations each day), and crystal clear waters of the Atlantic. The water transitioned from extremely clear at the shoreline to a beautiful transition of turquoise, similar (if not better than) than we have experienced in the Caribbean. Despite our early April visit, the water was warm enough for refreshing ventures to visit shallow sandbars where even the littlest of swimmers can stand with their chests above water. Negatives 1. Paper thin walls. Really. Be prepared to hear your neighbors! We were placed in a corner room which was a blessing, but even with one shared wall...depending on who you are next to...you will hear everything. Every bit of their conversation, even if they are not being overtly loud! Is it an old building? yes. Is this the problem? Maybe?! but wow....speak quietly or your neighbors will hear all! 2. There are 2 elevators to service all areas of the hotel which is very inadequate. Similar to a cruise ship, the elevators are s-l-o-w and are always packed. We rarely attempted to take the elevator but rather decided on the stairs each time. Either the service elevator needs to be turned into a guest elevator or how they operate (speed) will need to be changed. 3. Front Desk Staff. I understand they have a very challenging job with the endless demands from guests but it is literally their job to be accommodating (this is from a front desk staff of Marriott of over 10 years). One in particular was beyond miserable! Our stay started off with a cancelled reservation which we were not informed of because our credit card was stolen. After attempting to preauthorize our card and not being successful, they simply cancelled the reservation. As a platinum elite member I needed to ask for the welcome bonus. I was also disappointed that for staying 8 days and meeting other guests, we were not upgraded but other, not IHG members, who booked through 3rd parties (expedia) were upgraded to suites on the PH floor. Booking through IHG, paying full price, and being a platinum elite should be provided preferred status if an upgrade is available. 4. The property is adjacent and shares a pool space with the Radisson. The Radisson's pool, while nearly identical to IHG was much warmer (by nearly 10 degrees). However, sharing a property does not mean being able to utilize each other's bar/restaurant or facilities. This required a walk back to the other property to order food, drinks, or use the restrooms. Why allow the flexibility if there is not the ability to charge back to one's room? 5. The onsite restaurant is congruent to an old school Howard Johnson in terms of layout. It is completely enclosed and shuttered from the majestic weather and scenery of Miami Beach. We would have enjoyed the ease of dining at our hotel, but there is zero wow factor and no outdoor seating. Looking at the property, there is a lot of potential to upgrade this space to be on par with neighboring hotels with outdoor dining where we spent our evening meals taking in the warm sea air.
