“Wonderful breakfast”

The hotel has been great so far, but Shay and Frank take care of the breakfast area a day it has been wonderful. Nice hot omelets, sausage, and warm cinnamon rolls (among other things). They kept the tables clean, and the breakfast room as well. Thank you guys for your hard work! We appreciate it

Helene, Maggie, and Daniella made my stay great. I came from California alone during the holidays to help my father who was very ill in the hospital, I ended up staying six long weeks away from my husband and family at home. I honestly would have not gotten through such a difficult time without them, everyday they were kind and asked about how my father was doing. They were professional, kind, and showed me such humanity. The staff at Largo holiday inn express truly care about their guests, always welcoming you with a smile and happy to assist you if you need assistance. Helene is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met treating every guest with such kindness and respect. I would definitely come back for a stay if I was in the area.

Overall, I would rate this Holiday Inn Express in Largo 3 out of 5. The best part of the stay was the room itself. It was spotless, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was a good size and the shower had excellent water pressure. The staff were also friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The weaker points were the breakfast, the pool and the soundproofing. Breakfast was very basic and not especially good for vegetarians. It was the usual self-service setup with paper plates, eggs, bacon and potatoes, plus oatmeal, yoghurt, and toast. There was a pancake machine, but it was broken for the three days we were there. Overall it felt average at best, and you eat in the lobby area, which also adds to the budget feel. The pool is very small and feels a little like an afterthought. It sits in the shade of the hotel for most of the day, which might be welcome in the middle of summer, but in March it made for quite a cold swim. The water was not heated. The biggest issue for me was the lack of soundproofing between adjoining rooms. Our room had a connecting door to the next one and I could hear the people beside me so clearly it felt like they were in the room. I asked to move after the first night. I was told the carpet had been removed and that this had left a gap under the connecting door. The suggested solution was to roll up towels and place them at the base of the door. To be fair, that did help, but in a modern hotel guests really should not have to do that. There are practical positives. There is plenty of parking, it is close to lots of shops, very near Walmart and convenient if you are visiting the Encompass Rehabilitation Centre. There is also a train track right next door, with a train passing maybe twice a day, which was actually a little interesting rather than a major annoyance. There is also a small gym. For food nearby, Benedict’s around the corner is a much better breakfast option, and the Sports Shack up the road is a good place to go for a beer. So overall, this hotel is clean and comfortable, and the staff were good, but for around $220 a night I expected more. In another city, this would feel more like a $100 hotel. Good room, but the average breakfast, cold pool and poor soundproofing pulled it down.
