Another wonderful trip to Lake Charles. Great food, super nice, clean rooms, friendly people, and good times. They may not be able to guarantee you a win, but they guarantee everything else.

Hadn’t been there in a while and had always liked it but there were a bunch of little things that added up to make me not have the time I had expected. I booked on line two weeks prior and my total bill was $349 and I put down a 150$ deposit that I believed would have gone to the final bill; I travel and stay at many places where this is the norm. Well, here it is not. I checked my card and there were two charges: the 150 and then 249$ at check in. When I questioned it the next morning I was told that’s just their policy and I would get the remaining 50$ in “about 7-10 days”. Also I got in line to check in just before 3 and was told that’s the only king room they had ready was in the garden wing. Shouldn’t all or most of the rooms be ready at check in time? So I had a looong trek to my room as it was at the furthest end of the floor. To be fair the clerk did say it’s at the end of the hall but I had no idea how long it really was. The room itself was very nice, good ac/heat control. Shower was great except that the bottles they provide of gel, shampoo, and conditioner just barely squeeze in the space for it so instead of just being able to pump the amount I needed I had to pry the bottles out, pump into one hand and the try and wrangle it back into the space with the other. These may seem silly to some but I had a stroke 18 months ago and though I don’t show obvious signs of it, my hand dexterity is not what it used to be so that was tough. The casino was a bit disappointing; the machines are so confusing. Played a 25 cent one thinking I could, you know, actually play just 25 cent a pull but nope most of them you HAVE to play at least two coins and sometimes more. A video poker game wanted $1.25 a game. Same thing with the penny slots. Yah it says penny slots but I played a bunch of them and the least expensive one I found you had to play at least 60 cents and most were higher. I’m pretty savvy but Geesh all the old people that play must have a time of it. Another thing that bothered me is I sat in the same area playing different games for at least an hour and a half and not one server came to ask if I wanted a drink. When I got to my table game it took forever also and she came by my table, asked the two guys at my table and ignored me. One of the guys called her back and said she forgot me. It happened again the next go round. Ordered a Bloody Mary which was 10% vodka and 90 % Bloody Mary mix. The next was wasn’t even less palatable than the first. After stirring and stirring I too k one taste and knew I couldn’t drink it. She never came by again so I could ask her to replace it with one with a better ratio of vodka to mix. So, lesson learned. Won’t be staying here again.
