Great week at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott New Orleans Downtown/Canal St My girlfriend and I stayed a week and I spent hours deciding on which Bonvoy Hotel to choose and glad I choose this one. The location is great, 1/2 mile walk to the French Quarter or take the trolley (get a cheap Jazzy Pass that covers all buses, street cars and the Algiers Ferry. We road all 6 street car lines and the ferry and St. Charles line was a highlight as was the ferry. There are 2 lines that stop 1 block from the hotel that goes down to the ferry and waterfront or to the cemeteries or the huge city park with museum. The rooms are nice and big as we got a king with kitchen with a great view and the breakfast was good. Latanya was amazing at the front desk our whole stay and even lent us a blender so I could make smoothies from buffet breakfast juice, fruit and yogurt. All the front desk staff and bartenders and door people and housekeeping were amazing and super friendly, especially the maintenance guys and front desk. Another bonus of this hotel is the rooftop 14th floor bar with amazing views of downtown, the French Quarter and river. You can even go up there outside when the bar is closed to hang out. I'd highly recommend this hotel since staff is great, rooms are way bigger than other Bonvoy hotels and the East side of the Tower has great close up views of downtown. If you need groceries Walgreens is 1/2 mile walk away right before Bourbon St starts with restaurants along the way. Closest restaurant is 1 block away and it's actually the best that's close. Pho Tau Bay Vietnamese, all the locals go there. If you're thinking of other Bonvoy hotels near in the same price point definitely at TownePlace Suites Canal Street.

“Fabulous experience at the TownePlace Suites New Orleans!”

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. The room was ready when we arrived, and super clean! Staff was friendly and attentive. The fact that it's only considered a 2-star hotel makes no sense to me. The price was right, the breakfast was heady, and I will definitely be back.

I spent 4 nights at the Townplace hotel on Canal Street. The hotel itself is fantastic, centrally located within walking distance of the French quarter and other eateries. Rooms are spacious and clean, with a great rooftop bar on the 14th floor that offers an incredible view of downtown. The only reason I didn’t give the stay a 5 star is because of an employee at the front desk named Fannie. She stated she’s a Manager. This was the first time of all my hotel stays that I’ve had a front desk agent gave me such an attitude and almost ruined the entire experience. I am a travel agent and booked the room under my travel agent rate. Upon arriving to the front desk, she asked me for my travel agent credentials in order for them to honor the rate, I gave her one that I didn’t realize had expired, so she didn’t accept it. I told her I can login to my CLIA account and show her a valid copy, which is acceptable for check ins. She said she needs to see a physical copy. I stayed at the front desk for nearly 30 minutes while she completely ignored me and dealt with the other guests. It’s when I started arguing loudly with her and explained to her the digital ID is acceptable the she finally proceeded with the transaction. Even after giving her my credit card, the issues continued. She stated that she’s getting an error message and that I need to give her another credit card, which I did. She said the error message continued and asked for a 3rd credit card, at which point I said I don’t have a 3rd one and that the issue is with the credit card terminal. She asked another, more gentle and friendly young lady to use her terminal and lo and behold, the payment went through. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel during check in. That lady cannot work in hospitality or at a minimum needs to be retrained. Other than that, hotel itself was amazing!!!!
