We had a wonderful experience at the AC Hotel Downtown. The room was beautiful, modern, and comfortable, and the view was absolutely fantastic—exactly what we were hoping for during our stay in Portland, Maine. What truly made this trip special, though, was Gabe our shuttle bus driver. He went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He gave us incredible restaurant recommendations, knew all the ins and outs of Portland like a true local, and was genuinely friendly and welcoming every time we interacted with him. His enthusiasm and knowledge made exploring the city so much fun and effortless. The hotel itself was great, but Gabe is what elevated the entire experience from a nice stay to a truly fantastic trip. We would absolutely stay here again—and hope to see Gabe when we do!

I love this property. AC is my go to spot to crash every time I'm in Portland. The rooms are always clean and are very spacious. The hotel is within walking distance to all kinds of bars and restaurants and they have a complimentary shuttle yhat will take you to and from spots within a certain radius of the hotel and that is definitely what makes this my favorite hotel in town. When I arrived in town, I called the hotel to arrange transportation from the airport. They told me the shuttle would arrive momentarily and, just like they said, it did. To my surprise, Gabe was the driver and he remembered me from all of my previous visits to the hotel. Gabe told me about of of the new restaurants in town and gave me a list of places to try. Luckily, he was driving the shuttle again when I started looking for food so he made sure I got where I wanted to go and back to the hotel each and every time. If you ever need a shuttle ride, id recommend requesting Gabe by name when you schedule your reservation. I think the people, in particularly Gabe, are what make me continue to choose this hotel when im in town.

The lobby and main floor is pretty much what you'd expect of a Marriott branded hotel: it's large, polished, and pretty generic. There is a bar and lounge, a long little store and friendly staff at the check-in counter. However, the rooms are quite avant-garde and funky. For one, my room was mostly white and square--square sink, and even a square toilet. It was also spacious and comfy, with a large sofa alongside a nice bed. And of course they had all the latest electronics and amenities. One of this nicest touches I felt was a free shuttle that takes guests to downtown, the airport and even the train station. I wish they had publicised this a bit more ahead of time. As for location, the hotel is out a bit from the main tourist area. There are a few restaurants and bars nearby, but most of the action is a hearty walk away (or a free shuttle ride). In all, the hotel exceeded my expectations.

Been staying here since it opened. This time they told us no more valet parking. I won’t be coming back, it’s way too inconvenient. I know this sounds childish but it was not easy to park in the garage. And the convenience before of having your car brought to you during Maine in the winter was great. There are plenty of other hotels nearby that offer this convenience and are just as nice. I come to Portland multiple times a year and am disappointed that the hotel chose to save a few dollars at the expense of customer satisfaction. When I asked why they got rid of the valet parking I was told that the front desk was told it was because of customers that didn’t have want it. I highly doubt this and think it is a poor excuse that management came up with. Plus on the website it still says valet parking. I truly hope management changes their decision or comes up with a better reason of why they got rid of this necessary service.
