A wonderful location, with rooms of character, fabulous shower and bed - and a lovely bar - we love this hotel.

I was visiting Baltimore for a zoo field trip and decided to make it a last minute stay-cation. The hotel staff were very responsive to my questions via phone prior to arrival. On arrival, I was met with assistance to off load since there is only street/off-site parking. I parked a couple blocks away at an affordable daily rate. A mini fridge and pack and play that I requested in advance were all ready on arrival. The beds were bery comfortable and sheets were clean. My toddler and I both slept well. Good sound proofing- did not hear street noise or other guests from our room. The bar staff were very upbeat and attentive. The restaurant offered great breakfast options with fast service. I personally did not care for the black bathroom sinks and toilets. While they fit the decor, it was unsettling to not be able to see visible usage. Overall, this hotel was a great value.

1. The room was very clean, but this was the first four-star hotel I’ve stayed at that didn’t provide a coffee maker. 2. The male receptionist was very friendly and helpful. (I’m referring to the male receptionist, not the Black female receptionist.) 3. I would not recommend Ash Bar. After taking our order, our server never came back to check on our table. We had to go find him every time we needed something. Despite the poor service, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. 4. I’ve never seen a restaurant automatically add a 20% tip to a takeout order. I found that to be unreasonable and unfair.

I arrived late after a long tiring day, so temper the comments accordingly. It was late and the hotel entrance is not well marked, and neither is the portico well lit. I felt like I was checking into a goth experience, that followed me to my room since the elevator is small and dark, the hallways were dark and the room not well lit. The room is cute with the canopy bed, and the eclectic style and bathroom/tile. But it is very small. I'd booked a double room but was upgraded to a Queen - still super small. It was no problem for me as a solo business traveler, but I'd be hard pressed to stay with my wife (unless booking a bigger room?). I'd identified this property because it was walkable to the train station (and it was perfect - ~11 minutes walk). It just had a strange vibe that freaked me out a little.
