I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member and frequent Amtrak traveler, and as such I like to stay at different hotels throughout the Hilton portfolio, especially those close to an Amtrak station. I'd been watching the updating of this hotel, which had been under a non-flag private ownership and was undergoing a long rehabilitation, and once it opened up as a Doubletree I started planning my train trip to Battle Creek knowing I would stay there. The fact that this Doubletree had coin laundry machines available for the public was also a bit plus, as this was the halfway point of my journey and I thus made this stay my laundry evening. As I always do, I checked in and chose my room via the Hilton app the day before arrival. Also, my status was recognized by an upgrade which they let me know about a few days before coming. Upon arrival, I did go to the front desk despite having a Digital Key, because the app doesn't distribute Doubletree cookies to DIamond members; one has to ask for them. But herein was my one issue. I asked for bottled water, and the young lady at the desk told me it's in the room. When I got to my room, I looked and looked all over, but there were no water bottles to be found. I went back downstairs and let her know there was no water ( l prefer not to drink tap water thus depend on the bottled spring water). She looked around and could not find any water. She want into the onsite market store to look for cold water, and could not find any there. She made a call to somebody who was going to check another location in the building, and told me to sit down nearby. After about 15 minutes, she said no water bottles were found. She advised me to go up to my room and somebody would bring the water up to me. Now I had to wait for the person to show up, which he did, but it took time away from my stay, as for one thing I really wanted to take a shower but had to wait until the delivery came. Other than that, the staff including the woman who could not find the water, were cordial. The place smelled "new" (again I knew it was recent rehab), and the corner I room I had was odd-shaped with a diagonal wall, but certainly functional. I did have a good night of sleep and enjoyed the hotel's convenience to Amtrak and the aesthetics provided when hotel was converted to a Doubletree. I would recommend this property.
