Our family of 4 adults and 3 children shared 2 rooms at this property. This location is within easy walking distance of several restaurants, and the downtown views are amazing! The rooms were clean & comfortable. Breakfast was very well run and there were many choices. The children enjoyed the pool with the Gateway Arch views Parking was attached and easy to access. The staff was so polite & helpful.

“Hilton stay with a room view”

Check in on Friday afternoon was slow. Didn’t get usual welcome or water for being a Hilton member. Had to ask about where the elevators to room located. Speaking of, 1 of 3 elevators were broken. The parking is on lower levels, pool and game room on 5th floor, and there is about 15 floors, making elevators frustratingly slow. Sometimes wait time > 5 minutes. Signs in elevators about floor locations are confusing. Using key card/digital key in elevators also difficulty. Many other customers agreed it was a frequent conversation with each other on these elevators. Hotel did apologize and tried to have some non monetary compensation. Room was usual size for 2 queen beds. Overall had wear and tear but clean. We still do our usual clean of surfaces when we first go to rooms. We had a corner room with an excellent view of the Arch. Refrigerator but no microwave in room. No hotel restaurant, room service in hotel or Ubereats delivery to room or nearby restaurants. No grocery or coveinient store nearby. Didn’t eat free breakfast because of other reviewer comments concerning crowds and slow elevators to even get there- we like to get food and take it back to room. There is a small area with 1 microwave near lobby with expensive snacks, cold drinks and frozen meals. Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, paper goods available. We usually have a hard time getting extra towels and washclothes during past stays at other Hiltons but the housekeeper on the 7th floor this time was very open to providing additional items when asked at the cart. I believe and hope her name was Cassandra, the name written in the room. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. However, I have to mention one disturbing incident occurred when we had the sign on door handle to not enter our room. Another housekeeper, not the one mentioned before, knocked on door and within 1 second opened the door before I could reply. She then saw me sitting up in the bed and immediately closed the door. My husband was taking shower at the time. It was unsettling experience because the sign was ignored, no pause took place to hear a possible answer after knocking, making us curious of if our room is still entered when we are away, even when sign displayed that housekeeping is not needed. It questions room privacy and safety. Overall, we would consider staying here again if we ever returned to STL. The room view made the difference, otherwise the other issues would have negatively impacted the experience more.

“Great location - great rooms”

Good location. Very clean rooms which are a good size. Great laundry facilities. Good parking facilities. Breakfast was a bit limiting in terms of choice - lack of fresh fruit- obviously depends what you like to eat for breakfast. Friendly staff.

Service When we arrived at the location, there was plenty of room to park out front, and the guest check‑in experience was great. The staff was very friendly and attentive the moment we walked through the front door. I really appreciated how kind they were to my three young kids who came in to check in with me. At one point, we made our way down to the lobby for some water and hot coffee, and one of the staff members practically jumped out of his shoes to move out of the way so my kids could get their ice water. I told him he could take his time, but he insisted that my youngest son’s mission for his cup of water was more important. The staff here did an amazing job making my family feel welcome. Breakfast Everything was served fresh and right on time. The morning staff paid very close attention to the food levels, as there were many guests eating breakfast on this particular Saturday morning. Despite the crowd, there wasn’t a shortage of any of the best items, such as potatoes and eggs. The staff answered several guests’ questions while we were there and remained very patient throughout breakfast. I was impressed with their enthusiasm and attentiveness. Rooms We stayed in a double‑queen room (because I don’t want to speak for all rooms). Unfortunately, the beds were not the same quality as the ones I’ve experienced at many other Hampton Inns. I typically choose Hampton Inn & Suites because I get a great night’s sleep and the beds are always just right. I didn’t think to check the mattress brand, but these beds left my back extraordinarily sore—and I can sleep just about anywhere. From a sleep‑quality perspective, it was a poor night due to the mattress. The rest of the room, however, was very clean. Miscellaneous The building’s key‑card system left a lot to be desired and was a major annoyance. The elevators often wouldn’t accept the key card (particularly the single elevator on the opposite side of the two side‑by‑side ones). The staff was mostly friendly about it and would just let you keep swiping until it finally accepted the card and sent you back up to your floor—sometimes after passing it once or twice. This made for some very lengthy elevator rides, especially with suitcases and kids. There was one instance, however, where a gentleman at the basement level said, “You have to swipe the card,” even after being told the reader was malfunctioning. This was frustrating and made me feel like they weren’t fully aware of how widespread the issue was. It was also obvious the system was struggling when more than 15 guests had to be let into the pool area that afternoon. My kids wanted to swim, and the only available table was right next to the door, so I spent the next 30 minutes opening the door for guests who kept swiping their cards with no success. I even stepped out and tried my own card, knowing it had worked just five minutes earlier, and it still failed. The final point is the parking garage. It appears there is no monitoring or signage to encourage proper parking. Many vehicles were taking up two spots within an already limited parking area. I drive an SUV and was still able to park in a single spot with room to maneuver, but I had to spend a lot of time navigating the cramped driving lanes on the third level because at least 15 spots were unusable due to double‑parked vehicles on the lower levels. The exit of the garage is also nearly impossible to navigate because vehicles parked in the exterior lot make it difficult to turn around to reach the exit. Overall The experience had some issues, but the staff’s friendliness and the breakfast made up for the irritants. I would recommend this location to others but would definitely let them know about the issues that exist. And did I mention they have a really neat lobby with checkers and comfortable seating to relax after a long drive? It’s worth mentioning. Their lobby is unique for a Hampton Inn & Suites.
