“Days inn at Helena”

Excellent stay at the Days Inn in Helena Montana. Just off the I 15. Staff were very friendly, rooms were spacious, beds were comfortable, and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful with a chef making you a hot breakfast starting at 6 AM. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This was the most miserable hotel in a two week’s trip. My criteria are: can I get a good nights sleep? Are ADA accommodations available and working? Are there healthy breakfast options? No on the first question. The mattress was comfortable but the room was so hot we had to sleep with only a sheet. Yes, there was a wall a/c but it was so noisy sleep was impossible with the unit turned on. If you turned it on it blew directly onto the bed, freezing you. The room was decent enough, with a nice sized fridge and little freezer section. That is perhaps where the heat was being generated. ADA accommodations: clueless. An elongated transfer chair was provided but it didn’t fit into the small regular tub. The shower curtain was the wrong type and wouldn’t prevent water from going all over the floor if used with that chair. There was also a large triangular Jacuzzi type tub but the chair wouldn’t work with that tub’s access. Additionally, there was no hand held sprayer in the jacuzzi tub. A wheelchair user would not be able to take a shower in that bathroom. Lots of handrails installed but that doesn’t make up for poor tub access and ignoring most of the Montana ADA guidelines. Breakfast: minimal but decent. Good coffee, a real egg cooked any style by a friendly staff member. Crispy hash browns. Apples and oranges, or maybe bananas. Raisin bran. The other carb offerings were ultra processed/ no fiber, too much sugar. Other impressions: ~ 200 cigarette butts on the ground greeted you as you entered the hotel. Staff pleasant but with low energy, at the front desk. One of the staff ( we think staff or manager as the white car was parked there for 3 days without moving) parks in a parking lot turn-around close to the front door, limiting guest access. I hope to never return. I knew this place was old but we had to change our reservations due to my cousins schedule and this was the only place available.
