Annabell Gardens

“Perfect!”

My daughter and I were only there for one night and after checking in I immediately wished we could stay longer. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful. The staff are friendly and the room was relaxing and spotless. The night was unexpectedly perfect.

The staff were so welcoming and kind. I had a lot of questions about the room as our son has special needs. They were very accommodating. Our room was perfectly clean! The lobby was very nice, plenty of tables to sit at and a TV. The beds and sheets were the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel and we have stayed at very high end resorts. The pool was great, awesome area to sit under the shade, nice hot tub. Would highly recommend for baseball teams traveling to play in tournaments or to watch the college world series games. Tons of restaurants near by. And they have a free ice cream, slushy and latte machine. 5 stars all around!

My wife and I recently stayed for four nights at Annabell Gardens. It was one of seven hotels we stayed at during a 17-day road trip. This was our first time in Nebraska. I quickly developed a love / hate relationship with this facility. Part of it was due to my misunderstanding of the type of facility it is. When I booked the hotel, I had the impression that it was an independent hotel, but it would be much like most other good hotels, with a lobby, elevators, luggage carts, inside room entrances, etc. Wrong! I would describe Annabell more as a resort than a hotel. It occupies a roughly square area about the size of a small city block. There is a "Clubhouse / Office" building where you check in and where breakfast is served. Then there are 15 separate buildings, each of which has 8 units, 4 on the first floor and 4 on the second floor. There are steps leading to the second floor rooms - no elevators. Between the buildings, the property is beautifully landscaped, with a charming gazebo and an outside pool. Parking is around the perimeter. I loved the fact that our room had a washer and dryer, and they were free to use. No need for a roll of quarters or one of those infernal apps that other hotels make you use. I loved that there is free ice cream, slushies, and coffee available 24/7 in the clubhouse. It was fun to go get a snack in the evening and sit under the gazebo and just relax with the beautiful surroundings. I loved the fact that the front desk staff were all very helpful, friendly, and proud of their facility. The breakfast was pretty good, although the area does get crowded at times. However, there were things I hated. First, I hated that I had to park my car and carry our luggage one piece at a time to our room with no luggage cart. We arrived at night and the only available parking spot was a little ways away from our room. Second, I hated that there was only one small endtable on one side of the bed. My wife needed to sleep on that side so she could use the small endtable for her CPAP. That meant no endtable for me. There was no place next to the bed where I could put my glasses, a bottle of water, or my phone. I can see why it was not possible to have two endtables - there was no room! I would have gladly traded some of the ample kitchen or living room space for a second endtable by the bed. Then I hated that there was no clock anywhere in the bedroom area. No problem, right? I'll just put my phone on the table next to the bed... oh, that's right, I can't. I hated that you are exposed to the elements when walking to and from breakfast. We got rained on a bit one morning. I am not used to that when paying for a nice hotel. Overall, I think Annabell gardens is a unique and beautiful facility, staffed by good people. However, had I fully understood how the place works and is laid out, I might have chosen differently for our time in Lincoln.
