We stayed here for 2 nights we had a large family room with 2 king size beds,our 2 boys shared a bed (they were not to happy about that lol). A big room in the roadrunner section,a tv,fridge,ceiling fans and ac. A large shower with good presure and hot water. On site the reception desk was helpful with information,there is a saloon/bar where you can eat,drink or watch large screen tv. Nextdoor there is the restaurant which served till 10pm,food was good and fairly priced. The pool was great to cool off in the afternoons with towels available. The general store over the road has everthing you could need and caters for the rv's camped behind. The location really sells it as its only 1 of the few actually in the park so great for sightseeing..

“A Nice Enough Hotel Out in Nowhere”

We enjoyed our two night stay here. Stovepipe seems centrally located in Death Valley. There is not a whole lot around. This town did have the hotel, a restaurant, a gas station and a store. The room was decent sized, good AC, and a small bathroom. The buildings are older but suit the purpose. I especially liked the swimming pool which is a good size and had surprisingly cool water. How do they keep the water cool when it is 100 degrees outside? This location is about a 25 minute drive to the visitor center. It is also only two miles from Mesquite Sand dunes which is a nice place to view stars. It is so dark there you should bring a red head lamp. You only need to drive two miles to get back to the hotel. The breakfast was a buffet which included drinks and cost about $14 per person. The dinner was good, too, but not a buffet.

“Decent!”

It's small but clean and in a cool setting in an otherwise very 'warm' area. Our room was small and the bathroom really small, but it all works. It's small but clean and in a cool setting in an otherwise very 'warm' area. Our room was small and the bathroom really small, but it all works. There's a saloon and restaurant on premises which made it extremely convenient for meals. Furnishings in the room are sparse, but does include a mini-fridge. Coffee, etc provided in the registration lobby and across the street at the gas station/gift shop/campground. For budget-minded Death Valley, this works just fine!

“300 bucks and walk across the street for a bucket of ice”

No in room coffee maker. Coffee in the lobby until 7; after that you go across the street to buy it. Oh, and that's where you go for ice. There used to be three ice machines, but two are "broken". One person in the office said they were being replaced but I see from other reviews this has not happened yet. You're out in the middle of a very hot desert and no ice machines? The staff was generally quite nice but my friend in another room got charged for in room items which he did not take, and was charged only after he had left. It is pretty quiet and dark at night, much more so than in the main area at Furnace Creek. Yes the rooms are pricey.
