OK, let's get the nitpicking out of the way. This is a small hotel, 3 floors, a few dozen rooms per floor, attached to a small casino. The elevator is small and slow, the hallways are dark, low, and narrow, and the facility is obviously had some wear and tear. And some of the people you might encounter are generally on the opposite side of the spectrum from glamorous. But if you need a basic room at a reasonable cost in a location that's a short hop from downtown, just a few miles from the Center Strip, and with plenty of local and chain shopping and dining options nearby, this is a diamond in the rough. My afternoon check-in was quick and easy in the small lobby. There's a locked door to the elevator and stairs that does require using your door key. The door of my room wasn't tight to the door frame, but the locks were solid. The bed. Soft and comfortable. The HVAC, plenty reliable, but also the type of under-window wall unit you'd see in typical 2-star level suburban hotels. It was a bit noisy, but I've endured much noisier. The TV was remarkably large with a plethora of channels, and the WiFi worked fine. I would ding the desk for having a glass pane on top, which means most mice need some sort of other surface to work. The 4 pillows were about average. The blankets were not big and plush, but certainly adequate. I slept really well, every night. The bathroom fixtures showed signs of wear, but everything worked quite well, outside of a small faucet leak. Hot water was quick to run. Plenty of counter space for toiletries. Towels were not luxurious, but were also not 2-star thin and scratchy, a better experience that I was expecting. The walls do allow sound from adjoining rooms, and I sometimes heard sounds from the hallway. I always travel with earplugs these days, specifically to shut out such noise (heck, they almost block out sounds from Fremont Street-facing rooms), so sleeping was not an issue. Rooms are refreshed every day, something of a pleasant surprise in this day and age. What's more, despite the obvious age and use of the facilities, it's tremendously clear that the current ownership takes a lot of pride in what they have and work to keep the rooms sparkling clean. You can't clean wear, but cleanliness shines through anyway. There is only outdoor parking, so if you visit anytime from March to October, you're going to be getting into a hot car. Super-convenient to the freeway, and you're just a couple of exits from downtown. It may be branded as a "Latino" theme, but it's clear everyone is welcome. If you don't require "luxury," they do all the basics right, and is a good, solid place to lay your head for whatever reason you visit Vegas. And no stupid ripoff ("resort") fees, yet another example of how they treat their customers well. Very much recommended. I'll be back.
