We stayed at 3 different Homewood Suites hotels during a recent New England trip. All three were basically OK, but each one had its own quirks. Comments that apply to all three: The staff was very friendly and professional. The room (suite with 1 king bed) was OK at each. The room lighting was not quite bright enough for book reading. Each room used a different kind of HVAC unit, but in each case the only choices were quiet/stuffy and loud/frigid -- it was not easy to find a happy medium. The free breakfast seemed a little less tasty than in previous years, the eggs were only lukewarm at each place.  The refrigerator in the kitchen was loud at all three hotels, but if we closed the door between the bedroom and the living area, the fridge didn't bother us at night. The living area at the Portsmouth hotel seemed the nicest of the three. Our 2nd floor room was quiet. It was mostly nice and dark at night, except that there was a device in the ceiling (smoke detector or CO detector?) with a fairly bright green LED that blinked all night. These devices are required at all hotels for safety reasons, but I've never seen such a bright indicator light. The hotel is located in a suburban business park, not much within walking distance, but it's a short drive to bustling downtown Portsmouth, and (unlike the downtown hotels) the parking is free. Summary: a pleasant stay, would probably stay here again.

Stay was okay. I’ve stayed at better Homewood Suites. First off the room I selected was given away which was not ideal because traveling with a newborn I purposely wanted to be near the laundry room instead I was moved to a different floor and basically given the oh well. We’re sold out deal. I needed to use the refrigerator and freezer for my babies food and both were gross. So we needed to clean this upon arriving late at night. Keycards did not work so I needed the front desk person to continuously let us into our room and yes even digital key wouldn’t work. This happened numerous times throughout our stay. Lastly the breakfast was lacking. Simply wanted a waffle and that’s not an option until the weekends. Crazy to me that a waffle maker which is standard at most hotels is not put out daily. Was told I would receive compensation points for the room keys hardly working and changing of rooms. I have yet to see these points.

This hotel was advertised as being newly renovated. I think my expectations of what this meant and what I found were entirely different. This hotel did not live up to what I expected from a Homewood Suites by Hilton. I was not recognized as a Hilton Honors member. The most disappointing part of my stay was the breakfast. We stayed two nights and the breakfast was exactly the same both mornings. The usual bland scrambled eggs, sausage patties swimming in grease (I wasn't even sure they were sausage patties), potatoes and some unrecognizable side dish. I couldn't even tell you what it was. Unfortunately, nothing was identified. Also, nothing was replenished, for the most part. There was fresh fruit but that was never replenished, nor was the cheese if you wanted to add some to your eggs. On another note, the indoor pool was not heated so that was a bit shocking to get used to. It was clean, however, and there were towels available. On the plus side, most of the people who worked there were helpful and it was a decent location. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again.
