“Quiet stay”

We stayed in a two bedroom comfortable condo. The condo was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. Checking in was easy and the office staff was super helpful. We stayed in a two bedroom comfortable condo. The condo was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. Checking in was easy and the office staff was super helpful. They even let us borrow sleds for White Sands! It’s a bit older so it wasn’t super luxurious like some new properties. We saw plenty and deer, elk, and even a wild horse while staying there! The property is close to midtown ruidoso (about 1 mile away), and is in a central location to other great locations. White sands is only about an hour away, and Carlsbad Caverns is a few hours away.

“An apartment complex”

This apartment complex has some units available as time-share rentals. The complex backs up onto the main highway and thus has much road noise! This apartment complex has some units available as time-share rentals. The complex backs up onto the main highway and thus has much road noise! The exterior of the resort is dated – looks about mid 60s – and shows significant need of sweeping and maintenance. The interior of our unit has been refreshed with wall texture and paint, new cabinets, and new furniture, but the heating and air conditioning reflect old technology – baseboard heaters and one noisy “window unit” mounted in a wall. The windows are filthy. The kitchen is “full-sized” but lacks mixing/storage bowls. The wifi is slow, but TV works. When we arrived, a smoke alarm was beeping from a low battery, but the maintenance man showed up promptly to replace it. Later, we discovered that we had no hot water, and the maintenance man returned promptly to re-set the safety switch. He was cordial despite being called out after hours. The office is open only half-days on some days and not at all on other days. Fortunately, we arrived before it closed at 4:00 PM. Had we not, we’re not sure what the check-in procedure would have been. Other than these unusual circumstances, the unit was functional.

When we arrived there was no one in the office to check in. Called the after Hours number but had to leave a number. A half hour latter manager showed up and we received our room and keys. (Not Good after driving all day). Rooms are out dated and need referbushment but clean. Learned from manager/staff that resort ownership is insufficent to do necessary upgrades. The area just recently went through major flooding and the entire town is trying to recover. In fact Secretary Kristi Noem toured the area and they were inspecting the the damaage and taking applications for Federal Releif. I hope they are able to bring the resort up to modern standards as this is a nice area. Staff was accomidating, resolving any issues we had.
