Great Location, Clean Room and Excellent Value for NYC The location of Pod Times Square is fantastic. It is very easy to get to the subway and buses, and there is great walkability to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, restaurants, and so much of what you want to see in the city. I was traveling with my teenage son, so we chose a bunk bed room, which worked really well for us. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and we had no real issues with the room. It is small, but that is exactly what you are signing up for when you stay at the Pod. This isn't a hotel where you are going to spend the day lounging in your room. It is a great place to sleep, recharge, and head back out to explore the city. One thing that really impressed me was how soundproof the windows were. You can actually open them slightly if you want to hear the sounds of NYC, but once you close them, the city noise practically disappears. That was amazing considering the location. My one wish for the room would have been a second chair. We would occasionally come back between excursions to charge our phones and relax for a little while, and with only one chair, one of us always had to sit on the bed. I completely understand that space is limited, but even a small folding or compact chair would have been helpful. There are no refrigerators in the rooms and no guest ice machines. Since we carry refillable water bottles, we needed ice fairly often. Each time, we had to go to the bar and ask the bartender for it. The staff provided it, but after several trips you start to feel like you are bothering them. An accessible ice machine somewhere in the hotel would be a simple improvement. The hallways and even the lobby level bathrooms are surprisingly dark. I'm not sure what atmosphere they are going for with the lighting, but it was a little strange. That said, everything we used was very clean. There was some construction happening during our stay, and one of the outdoor observation areas was closed. They also have a small gym, which was a nice bonus. There is a market right around the corner where you can get absolutely anything you need and a delicious bagel place (Broad Nosh Bagels) across the street that was outstanding. The hotel has complimentary coffee from 7-11am and offers fresh baked goods and espresso drinks for purchase. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again. For NYC, I thought the value was fantastic. The location is hard to beat, our room was clean and quiet, the beds were comfortable, and it gave us exactly what we needed: a convenient home base while we spent our days exploring the city.
