My adult daughter and I were in NY for a five night stay of sightseeing. I wanted a place in midtown, to be close to everything and needed a room with TWO BEDS. Hampton Inn popped up. Great location, near a subway entrance and Times Square. Our room was on the 30th floor. Great views and not the side of a building. Room was good size. Don't expect lounging space in NY hotel rooms. TV, Desk, with chair, two beds, fridge, bathroom with 4-5 sets of towels. Non-carpeted floors, which was nice. Check in as a Hilton member was easy and fast. Downloaded digital keys but also got two keys. Breakfast was great. Yes, there are a lot of people but be a little patient. Waffles, toast, cereal, coffee, juice, fruit, 2% and non-fat milk, eggs, meat, potatoes, and a very wide variety of sealed condiments. Staff was always working hard to restock, refill, wipe down even as some people are not patient. This was a great way to get some food and drink in before being a tourist for the day. Hot water, coffee, and water in the lobby 24/7 was nice to come back to at the end of the day for some decaf for me and hot tea for my daughter. There are 3 elevators. They move quickly but will fill up. Again, patience. If we had been on a lower level floor (maybe 4 and below), I would have just done the stairs most of the time. There were several times teenagers just skipped past people waiting and jumped on elevators. All in all, the elevators were fine. Security was good. There were never any people standing around the front of the hotel. You have to use your room key to get in to the hotel most of the time. There was a security card who was helpful and friendly, often directing people, holding elevators, etc. There is a highly rated pizza place next store to the hotel, Carnegie Pizza and one of the hundreds of gift shops if you need a last minute gift. For a central room, breakfast, location, and friendliness of the staff, this was a perfect spot and great value for us.

“Checks all the boxes”

Stayed two nights. Great clean place. Has a better than avrage breakfast included. Would stay there again.

“Prompt attention”

Came with a school group (with Bob Rogers Travel). Room was very clean. When I arrived my air conditioning wasn’t working so I called the front desk. There was a maintenance guy at my door within 10 minutes and corrected the problem. Would recommend this hotel. Breakfast was excellent and breakfast… more

There was a maintenance guy at my door within 10 minutes and corrected the problem. Would recommend this hotel. Breakfast was excellent and breakfast staff was pleasant.

“Nice spot. Problematic room heating on recent stay”

I spent several nights at the Hampton Central Times Square in early January '26.(location W 41st Street). I've stayed here 5 or 6 times over the past 5 years or longer. There's a lot to like. Near the Port Authority, easy walk to most theaters, decent rooms and an option to select higher floors when booking. The front staff couldn't be nicer. Charges have always been fair. Safety on the streets of Manhattan, especially after dark, is always a concern. To their credit the hotel keeps a security officer near the front door and takes other measures as well to insure guest safety. The gym on the lower level is kept in good condition, I don't eat whatever hotels serve, so cannot comment on that. My most recent stay made me want to look elsewhere. Began right after check-in with a cold room and inoperative heat. They sent a fellow from maintenance in who got the heat running. Problem reoccurred a day or two later. Same fella came in and "fixed" the heat again. However, the "fix" this time was to have either constant heating - or no heat. I'd have to switch it back and forth all night long. Freeze or boil. The maintenance employee tried to make me feel that was normal. I knew better. A change of rooms was approved by the front desk. I can't tell you how common this is at this hotel. First time for me after several fine stays. But enough to make me look elsewhere next time. Unfortunately, this kind of issue isn't unusual with hotels. Can and does happen elsewhere. My rating of "4/5" takes into consideration all my past experiences at this hotel. Were I to rate only the last stay in January , I'd give it a "3".
