This hostel is amazing! I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm which was spotlessly clean. Huge locker with charging port inside it and light. Bed was comfy and had power sockers, usb ports and a light. The subway is a few mins walk away and takes you right down town. Good local bars and shops. The activities the hostel do were also great and FREE! I did the Welcome Party in the bar followed by the Greenwich Village Bar Tour, the Central Park Walking Tour, the Upper West Side Walking Tour and the Lower East Side Immigration Tour and all of the guides were fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. I met people from all around the world on these tours which made bumping into them in the hostel communal areas feel like they were old friends! Kitchens were huge and well equipped and they had kettles! Lovely patio area and lounge areas too. Bathrooms were always clean and most of the time didn't have to wait for a toilet or shower to become free - mornings around 8-9am were very busy though with the sinks used up with ladies doing their hair and make up etc! I just decided to have later starts and find it quiet at 10am each day. Cleaners must have been in and out of them all day long because even if a toilet did occasionally look a bit grim, the next time you went it was spotless again. Only thing I'd mention to anyone reading is turn the shower on as soon as you get in the cubicle and let it run while you undress etc because it takes ages to warm up, but they do get hot if you hang on long enough! Staff were really friendly from reception, to bar, to cafe to maintenance and cleaners. I loved every second in this hostel and I'm definitely going back next year!

The hostel is located 2 mins walking to 103rd Subway. Near to hostel there are certain things like Grocery Stores(right opp to hostel front gate), CVS pharmacy, Indian Restaurant, Italian Restaurant, TJ max, Five Below, church, etc. also bus stop is 2 mins walking. The hostel is very lively. There is a pool table, a theatre room, lot of board and card games, They also have a little cafe inside the building which serves fresh coffee and croissants juices etc. there is a laundry room (carry washing liquid) and a full scale kitchen. Carry sugar and veggies. You will find salt pepper and cutlery in the kitchen. Full size refrigerator and freezer to store things. Also each room has a locker inside which can be locked (carry your own lock). Also on each floor there are rooms and at both end there are washrooms (men women and both genders). Clean and ample space for rush hours as well. Jose is a cool guy who works at the reception. Check in starts at 4pm and they are strict about this. Check out is 11:00 am. 11-8 is silent hours. Also every day there are 2-3 events in the hostel like yoga , standup show , walking tours , pub crawl etc. I did the pub crawl with Stefan and it was crazy. Best part- it’s free for people staying in the hostel. There is also a full scale bar in the lobby floor and a huge patio area to chill outside. One of the best hostels I have stayed so far.

A great stay in the most affordable accommodation I could find for a solo trip to NYC, an easy 2-minute walk from 103rd Street #1 subway station. I stayed in a 6-bed female dorm and appreciated the privacy curtains on the beds, the individual charging port, and large locker for my things- make sure to bring your own lock. Sheets, a towel and blanket are also provided. The hostel was very clean, and most of my fellow travellers were considerate when coming in late at night, although there's always a few that don't know how to be quiet or close a door gently, and you can hear people thumping across the floors above- so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The bathroom was generally very clean, although they need more than 3 sinks in each, to enable easier handwashing, especially in the morning/ late at night. It was always nice to get in after a day in the cold- but a cap on the heating would be good- a girl in my room the first 2 nights kept putting it up to 77- it was boiling! I really appreciated the reasonable prices in the cafe- it was a great place to get breakfast or grab a late night sandwich- I recommend the chipotle chicken panini! All in all I would happily return for a city break, given the price of hotels in Manhattan.
