“Fantastic Staff!”

Staff went out of their way to help me with a battery issue. They could have easily steered me to a near by store. When I need to make a purchase I will select businesses that appreciate their customers when I can. I will stay here again the next time I’m in town!

The daytime front desk clerk was awesome. When the coffee was going to take a bit to brew, she ran in the back and got some for my aunt. She greeted us every time we came in. She always ask us how our room was. We really enjoyed her the nighttime weekend, lady on the other hand, was not kind or helpful at all. I went to get changed for the laundry and she mentioned that the washer was broke and the other one was in use. And she told me it closed at 10 PM. So I went back down to the laundry room to retrieve my clothes out of the broken washer. She followed me to put a sign on the broken washer. I didn’t have a choice, I had nothing else to wear, so I would need to sit in the laundry room and wait for the washer to empty. At that point, I looked at the sign on the door. It said the laundry room closed at 11. I went back down to the front desk to tell her that. When I finally got to put my stuff in the washer, and then the dryer, the dryer I put my stuff into was broke. So I had to go down and get a refund and wait on the only working dryer to be done. At that point I carried the clothes up to my room and lay them out to dry. Well, I understand it’s not her fault that a washer and a dryer were broke. She could’ve made a concession for me that I could get back in there later, but she refused. She was not very kind at all. Complete the opposite the daytime lady.

First the good stuff. The hotel staff is wonderfully helpful and professional. If you're travelling by yourself, this is a fantastic hotel to stay at. No problems there. You can stop reading right now. However, if you are travelling with family, friends, or coworkers, be forewarned: the bathroom "door" offers virtually no privacy nor soundproofing. This is especially important because of the high-powered toilet. The toilet flush mechanisms are the loudest I've ever experienced. When you push the flush button, you will audibly say, "Oh my goodness...". To combat that, the Hilton/Hampton designers could've easily used a bathroom door with improved noise insulation. But no. Hilton/Hampton did away with the traditional door entirely - possibly to save money? Instead, they went with a sliding barn-door solution. And I don't mean a "pocket door" because pocket doors actually provide privacy and noise attenuation. These are the bizarrely designed hanging-from-a-rail sliding barn doors. There is a nearly one inch gap around the door and the frame (see included photo). Not only does the door not close in a traditional sense (because it's not really a door), but the large gap seems to amplify every bathroom noise you can imagine. Showers, flushing, flatulence, brushing teeth, hair drying, etc. If somebody flushes the toilet in the middle of the night, everybody in your room will wake up. Take a shower? Everybody will wake up. Have a terrible gastrointestinal problem? God help your room-mates. So why did I leave a 4-star and not a 1-star? Because the staff here was so fantastic and the bizarre design of the bathroom door is not their fault.
