My stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Springfield was average. I knew immediately that this was an older hotel based on certain nicks, scratches, etc. specifically in and around the bathtub. I ended up having to ask to switch to a different room. I was originally put on the ground floor which was great, but upon using the bathroom in that room, I noticed little ants crawling around on the bathroom floor, along with a not so clean looking shower. I immediately went to the front desk and told the employee about the situation, and she efficiently switched me to a room on the 2nd floor, apologizing the whole time. This second room had no ants thank goodness, but a few things in the room were off. For example, the time on the clock next to the bed was completely off. I tried to fix it but it didn't do anything, so I let it be. I didn't have any issues with the TV the first night, but the second and third days there were definitely some connection issues. Even the remote was acting up. I mentioned this to the front desk and they said they would have someone fix it up, that the TVs tend to get like that on busy weekends. The final thing about the room that was irritating was the noise of the beds. Anytime I moved it creaked very loudly. I tested it out on both beds and sure enough, both beds were incredibly creaky. Other than some minor issues with the room, my experience was comfortable. I was really only in the room to rest and refresh anyways, so I didn't have to deal with it much. On the plus side, the staff was incredibly friendly. Every employee I interacted with greeted me with a friendly hello and smile. They were also incredibly efficient and willing to help out as much as possible. When I called the front desk for wake up calls each night, they were on top of that, and each morning I received my wake up call on the room phone. They were also very good with giving us breakfast each morning, as we had to be out before the breakfast buffet technically started. The staff was up and had breakfast ready for us before the official start time, and this was greatly appreciated!
