We needed a room for one night at the last minute. After calling several other hotels, the Federal Pointe Inn had 2 rooms left. We quickly booked the two rooms. What a pleasant surprise. Right from the beginning of our trip we were pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome we received along with a brief history of the building. We were personally escorted to our rooms and offered any assistance needed. I have to say, our room was incredible. It felt more like a guest room in a friend’s house, than a hotel room. We got settled and were able to sit on the patio and have a drink before dinner. Here is where we met Maggie B, who had all the history of the hotel. After our drink, we stayed for dinner. All of us enjoyed our meals as well as the drinks and dessert. And Maggie B continued to help us feel at home with excellent service. It took us at least a 1/2 hour to travel back upstairs because we were caught looking at the school pictures that decorated the walls of the pub. What an awesome place to spend the evening. As someone who has spent 50 years in schools, this hotel kept the feeling of a school, while being a relaxing hotel. If you want a friendly and relaxing experience, close to all of the Gettysburg attractions, give the Federal Pointe Inn a try! You won’t be disappointed.

The Federal Pointe Inn in Gettysburg is an all-around outstanding hotel for vacation travelers. Its location is close enough to the heart of town that walking to and from Gettysburg's many restaurants and shops is easy and convenient. The rooms are beautifully furnished with a 19th Century feel. They are clean, very comfortable, and each room is unique in its layout. Staff are always very friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this hotel!

“Nice stay”

Great location, great staff, and large and comfortable rooms. However, the rooms could use an update, especially the AC, which is super noisy and does not work well. Also cool is their pub downstairs.

We were welcomed by the gentleman at the front desk very nicely. Very welcoming and walked us to the room. But he had to explain how the AC and heat work. We were welcomed by the gentleman at the front desk very nicely. Very welcoming and walked us to the room. But he had to explain how the AC and heat work. The reason for this explanation is because this is an older hotel that really doesn’t have an updated AC/heat system. There was a stand-alone AC unit in the room which was needed to provide cooler air because their central system just blows air. The room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was updated and clean. However, the chair and sofa were older and worn looking. The worst thing about this hotel is that it is right up against the main road with tons of traffic noise especially trucks and motorcycles. Our windows were right next to the road. Horrible time sleeping… Also, there are flood lights pointing directly into the windows on the one side of this hotel. Even after closing the huge drapes, light leeks into the room from the top of the drapes. So don’t expect completely dark rooms. It’s a shame because I like the hotel and its atmosphere. It would be better with updated furniture; move it from the road (can’t happen lol); and turn off the flood lights.
