We had a lovely overnight stay at the Independence Park Hotel. The location is terrific, close to historical sites, shopping, and restaurants. The hotel itself is clean and pleasant and our room was quite comfortable. Staff members were helpful and polite. The breakfast offered is varied and everything was fresh. Parking for the hotel is very reasonable and is located about 1.5 blocks away.

Recently stayed 5 nights at the IPH on a pleasure, sight-seeing visit. Rooms was small but perfectly suited for someone spending time out and about and only coming back to snooze and rest between attractions. Clean facilities. Excellently maintained. Polite and professional front desk. Friendly breakfast room staff and hallway chats with housekeeping were likewise friendly and welcoming. IPH is conveniently located a short walk from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell (the town's two major attractions). It is in the middle of Old City and if you're a museum, history, or architecture buff, this is the place to stay as everything is nearby and within walking distance. You don't even have to call a rideshare service if you have good working legs (and you'll save a lot of money). I had a few out of area places to visit (Brandywine Art Museum, Valley Forge NP, and Elmwood Zoo) which are all accessible by rideshare. If you like to use public transit to explore the "real" city, the subway and trolley system make it convenient to move around without a car). If you are going to museums and the like, always check hours and dates open prior to your trip and plan accordingly to avoid disappointment (esp if going to Independence Hall and Phil. Museum of Art). The time I was there saw episodes of thunderstorms, so take umbrellas and light rain gear if going in the summer. Ample food places and bars are around. Excellent versions of the signature cheesesteak and Italian hoagie sandwiches of Philly fame can be found around the block on Market. If you're from a town where they ticket jaywalkers (like I am), you have to get used to feeling like a chump when you stand at street corner waiting for the light to turn green--be aware. There are the normal amount of handlers, tweakers, homeless, and cross-dressing nonconformists that you find in any US city, but they don't seem threatening. I felt OK (solo 60ish male traveler) being out on foot at night. IPH has the perk of the Best Western complimentary breakfast which has plenty to offer (eggs, meat, cereal, DIY waffles, toast, etc.) to start off. Cookies in the late afternnon. Wine and cheese reception a little later which I did not take part in. If you want to be near sports events or live music, this might not be your best choice, but If I ever get back to Philadelphia and want to be in the middle of historical surroundings, I will book again here.

Great location; a perfect 10! The standard queen room is so small it is claustrophobic! We upgraded to a King Room which worked for us and was very clean. Breakfast was sufficient, but nothing outstanding. The night front desk staff was not helpful at all. When I would ask a question, he would respond, he did not know. You must park your own car which is about 2-3 blocks away. If the weather is inclement or you have issues walking this could be a problem. There is not much space in the front of the hotel to park and drop off your luggage. We liked the wine and cheese on Wednesday, but wish that was offered every evening. Cookies were available in the afternoon, but they are just store bought. Home baked would be so much nicer.
