What makes a hotel stay good for me is generally how clean the property and rooms are, and how comfortable the bed is. The Comfort Inn has both of those, but what made my stay here memorable was the staff. When making my reservation, I requested a roll-in shower because mobility challenges keep me from being able to climb in or out of a bathtub. Then I called mid-afternoon of my arrival date to confirm my request and let them know I'd be arriving around 7 pm. I talked to both the manager Marion and the front desk clerk Demetrus on a 3-way call. They discussed which room I'd be assigned to accommodate my need. When I arrived, I was given a room with a bathtub. Whoops. I went back to the front desk and explained the issue. Another whoops--the room that I was SUPPOSED to be in, had been given to another guest by mistake. And the hotel was completely full that night. They didn't have a roll-in shower available. Marion and Demetrus conferred and were just about to start calling other hotels in Pine Bluff to see who had what I needed, and somehow they found a room with a step-in shower. That was fine--I just needed NOT a bathtub. Marion, the manager, called me on his personal number and, after apologizing profusely, invited me to call him directly if there were any further problems. I have never encountered such transparency and strong desire to make things right. Way to go Marion! Another delight awaited me in the morning in the breakfast area. I was surprised by the hot choices available. Ever since Covid, hotel breakfasts have tended to be minimalistic6. The attendant Tracy asked if she could make me a waffle (Yes PLEASE!!), and how about I get you a cup of coffee? What a sweet, servant-hearted lady. She made for a great start to my day. One more thing. The room I stayed in was next to the meeting room, where there was a gathering/party with a LOT of people. And people having a good time make noise. But come 10:00, the people left the meeting room and it was quiet. I don't know if it was the party leadership or the hotel staff making sure that the meeting room was emptied, but BOY I sure appreciated it. I hope I get to come back to Pine Bluff so I can stay here again sometime.
