“Beautiful resort property”

The resort is beautiful. We stayed on a Sunday night. The executive king suite had plenty of space, the bed was firm, there was a separate soaking tub, the room was clean and just a little worn and there was a large balcony with a beautiful view of the golf course and surrounding area. Kortni checked us in and she was delightful and clearly hardworking. Only con was the lazy river closing early at 7 and not reopening until 10 the next morning.

Hotel surrounding are beautiful - on arrival after booking a room with balcony we open the door to find the windows all covered in plastic due to renovations.with scaffolding outside. Hotel surrounding are beautiful - on arrival after booking a room with balcony we open the door to find the windows all covered in plastic due to renovations.with scaffolding outside. They did change our room which was in my opinion for the cost per night tierd looking and in need of a refresh for the cost. We have been to JW Marriott Clearwater and the food was amazing and well worth the money but the food in the San Antonio one was average. I think for the cost per night it was not worth it.

“Not worth price unless you take kids; not recommended for couples trip”

This property is only recommended if you have several kids and want to take them to a water park. There was an incredibly long line for check-in. This property is only recommended if you have several kids and want to take them to a water park. There was an incredibly long line for check-in. After a few minutes, my husband saw the Bonvoy member desk. The bell service was disappointing. We had our room number when the valet unloaded our bags. We saw the valet attendant write the number on the tag, and he assured us luggage would be delivered within "5-10 minutes." An hour later, after walking the grounds, we spotted our luggage at the bell desk, so we just took our own cart upstairs. HOWEVER, at check-out, we were not allowed to take a cart unaccompanied -- which we found ironic. My husband noted it was my birthday weekend in the reservation. We ate at the hotel restaurants (and therefore had to supply name and room number) at least 4 times (plus check-in) and it was not mentioned once. So, why ask folks if they're celebrating anything? The food and restaurants need an overhaul. The pizza restaurant was only open in the evening, and the sports bar had a limited menu. We received breakfast buffet passes but one morning, the server didn't ask for our tickets so we were unable to tip on the room. Daniel was extremely friendly and hospitable. We never once saw a grounds keeper picking up trash or tending to the overflowing trash cans. We saw several employees in their black shirts and jeans, standing around the pool area, while we all walked in our bathing suits. There is an abandoned, broken wooden trash can on the lazy river that was not emptied for 2 days in a row. I would think a lifeguard could take a trip around the lazy river at the end of the day to collect discarded cups and trash. This property allows for the public to access the pool so there are non-guests on site. This is not a place for a couple's retreat; it was very kid-centric. No one ever asked us if we were hotel guests so I'm assuming that means that anyone off the street could access the pool area. Some people had wrist bands but we never received those. We did not utilize the spa. The grounds are undergoing construction, as of August 2026. On the plus side, as platinum members, they honored a room upgrade which gave us a decent amount of extra room. However, they did not honor a late checkout so housekeeping was knocking on our door at 10:30am. The adult pool was nice and overlooked a golf hole but again, you could tell (from loud conversation) that many people were not actually staying in the hotel. We just expected a different vibe from a hill country resort and much more from the JW brand.
