I liked the complimentary drinks in the lobby (Champagne anyone?) and the room service delivery, which was prompt and on time. I also appreciated the patience and attentiveness of the concierges when I checked out, especially Hugo! He was great.

Overall, I'd definitely stay here again. In summary: the building is worse for wear, but the customer service and location makes up for it. 1) My first room, 915, smelled of mold and dampness, so I immediately went back to the front desk to exchange rooms. Emerson from the staff verified the mold smell and helped me change rooms. 2) My second room, 923, was fine, no mold smell. Room, bathroom, were fine, the carpet felt word, old, and dirty. See 923 pictures and videos attached 3) The Viviana from the front desk, was awesome. I had originally asked, as a Bonvoy Elite, to be upgraded to a western/beach facing room. Finally, a few days into my stay, she found one that was available for the rest of my stay, 546. All aspects of the room itself were the same: bed, room, furniture, bathroom, were fine. Carpet was old and felt dirty. But the view as incredible! See 546 pictures and videos attached 4) Everythig else: All staff were friendly, attentive, and accomodating. I requested a microwave to heat up leftovers, and during off hours, the front desk attendant even went to their restaurant/kitchen to get me real plates and silverware! The cruiser bike included with the resort fee needed a tune up, but I was still happy to have the bike to ride down to the Santa Monica Pier, down the beach to Venice and Venice Pier, through the Venice canals, and back to the hotel. It worked well enough that I made it through those miles without any issues (includes a bike lock). Parking attendents were friendly and great as well. Breakfast at the restaurant was good, nothing special. Having complimentary coffee available in the lobby every morning was great! Finally, location location location. Easy to bike, walk, drive in and out, and everywhere.

I would like to recognize Jimmy Avila for his outstanding customer service and pleasant attitude. Also Ms. Viviana who tried to smooth the mix-up on our reservation during check in when I faced the front desk agent with an attitude problem! As for the quality of the room, we were extremely disappointed. It was outdated and needs much improvement for a high quality Bon voy Marriott location! A total renovation is a must with this hotel if you are to retain clients.
