I come regularly to Hilton Head Island, either on business or with my family, and have been a number of times at Bluewater. A fantastic, serene development, right on Skullcreek, with easy access to some of the best restaurants on the Island, and all the shopping and golf you can do on Hilton Head. This is one of the most recent developments, so everything is top notch, very well furnished, with an eye for convenience and comfort. It offers the amenities you'd expect from top notch resorts, with covered and external pools, the exterior one being a super large lazy river kind of pool, jacuzzis, gym, animations, and this is the only resort I have found on the island to also offer a marina - so bring your own boat, or rent a kayak from their docks. Service and housekeeping are first class, and truly this is one of the best resorts money can buy on Hilton Head Island - and a great value. Highly recommend it.

This is a beautiful resort, but I wouldn’t classify it as “Premier.” We exchanged into it and found several things missing that most premium resorts include. There’s a mandatory $20 activities fee, yet you start with only two rolls of toilet paper, one day of coffee, and four pool towels (in a one-bedroom). Pool towels aren’t available at the pool, so you’ll need to wash them yourself if you plan to swim daily. You also can’t request additional towels, sheets, or basic items like coffee, salt, Kleenex, or toilet paper—meaning you’ll need to purchase them, along with laundry detergent for the in-unit washer/dryer. It felt like a lot of nickel-and-diming, especially since amenities like the fire pit and bicycles still come with an extra charge ($10/day). There’s also no onsite restaurant or bar. Dockside and Hudson restaurants are next door, but because the property is fenced in, the walk is surprisingly long—about 10–15 minutes—even though their parking lot sits right behind Building 6300. A gate would make a big difference. On the positive side, the staff were wonderful and the grounds are truly beautiful. The rooms are generously sized, and nicely furnished. A quick note on location: if you plan to go to the beach every day in the summer, be prepared to drive about 15 minutes. But for an off-season stay focused on relaxing and exploring, it’s a great spot right on the Intracoastal. The sunsets are gorgeous, and the dock—with rocking chairs, loungers, and tables—is a perfect place to unwind. There’s easy access for kayaking, and we really enjoyed the sunset dolphin cruise that left directly from the resort’s dock. The outdoor pool is not heated, so even on sunny 70-degree days in early November, it was too cold to swim. The spa was still enjoyable, and the pool area itself is very nice. Another improvement opportunity is the BBQ area. There are no lights, which makes it difficult to use once it gets dark—especially after daylight savings time ends. There are four buildings: three face the pool or pond, and one faces the Intracoastal. Unless you’re on the top floor of the 6400 building, trees will likely block your view. We were on the first floor of one of the other buildings, and found the short walk to the dock for sunset more than adequate.

“A great resort. Quiet, clean and close to many nice restaurants.”

The resort is great. Rooms are extra large and always clean. The carpet has been replaced. Stoves in units need to be replaced as they are old but still function. Staff is really nice and accommodating.
